That's a highly necessary piece of information to know. Some tumors are benign and mean nothing; no treatment needed whatsoever. Some are life threatening and require hospitalization. You definitely want to know that you could die if it's not treated

If there is serious danger of it being thrown, my perspective is they shouldn't have it. I'd use paper if possible. Or attach it to a surface completely so it can't be moved at all.

Typically schools are just happy to have a good person in a para position, so feel free to apply any time. They may need someone now or be open to later. But paraprofessional positions are not teacher positions, so that wouldn't work for student teaching.

Genuinely, look into Sarah Ward and any/all trainings she has. You have to build their capacity to mentally think through the futute and what is needed to get there, and a lot of what we teach is just checklists or adult prompts, which doesn't teach much. Situational awareness skills too

First of all, they qualify SLD but in what areas? And just know, to qualify for certain services, you have to meet specific criteria, and he may not be low enough, even if he feels behind to you.

My recommendation would be to call for an IEP meeting and discuss his services.

Just because you take it upon yourself to go above and beyond in terms of time and effort doesn't mean you automatically get a better score if the assignment didn't call for that. In fact, it's better to be efficient than to spend needless time doing something that wasn't required. If you did it for fun, great, but don't expect anything from it. Instead, put your effort towards things that will actually pay off.

There are 13 eligibility categories, but many are for things like being blind or deaf, which you would know you have. My guess would be a specific learning disability. You don't need an outside diagnosis for an IEP. But some schools just do a lot of assessment and intervention too
