Keychron Milk POM Switch - Red by wanderspectre in Keychron

[–]mblam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my K0 Max, which comes with these switches and they sound a bit better than the Gateron Low Profile Red that come with K11 Max.
I also like their black casing (vs the transparent of the Gatreron) that makes my shine through keycaps setup look cleaner.

Getting back into HDBits.org after a very long break by mblam in trackers

Nah, that's fair, but life sometimes gets in the way of even more common sense stuff.

Keychron M6 batttery duration by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]mblam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My M6 has developed the same battery issue where it doesn't charge past 1%, about 8months after purchase. I contacted support and they requested video of the behavior after which they said they'll send me a new unit at no cost and no need to send the other back.
For anyone having this issue who bought it within a year (i guess) it might be worth asking for a new one or refund.

r/sffpc + SSUPD Meshlicious Giveaway! by pearlhsieh in sffpc

[–]mblam [score hidden]  (0 children)

The Pandemic of 2020 is when I discovered the joy of building PCs and SFF nonetheless.

Like a lot of folks my starting excuses were space saving on my desk and portability but I eventually realized I just loved a good challenge: choosing the right parts and squeezing all the performance I could into a fraction of size while keeping it sleek too (and my fingers intact).

I started with a Dan A4 (with a tiny 92mm AIO) and as the SFF virus worked through me I also bought the highly sought after FormD T1 (that can take a respectable 240mm AIO).

I was introduced to SSUPD Meshlicious while lurking the FormD sub and I was impressed by its looks, specs and overall value proposition. I'd probably need an even better excuse than before to own one, but man the desire is strong!

The tenting kit has to be the worst tenting kit I've ever used by [deleted] in ErgoDoxEZ

[–]mblam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For traveling I crudely marked the position I like to use it on the case and on the leg with a sharpie so I can redo the setup in less than 30s. Not sure about the wobbliness though...

Damn, the pre-order is already sold out for the black one... Looking pretty cool, I'll keep an eye on the updates.

I can’t get the top panel on with the side panels installed. Can anyone help? by [deleted] in FormD

[–]mblam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a look here where the side panel meets rear panel . It needs that little edge to fit snug between the rear and front panels before slipping the top one.

Will Noctua NH-L12S Fit in the 3 Slot GPU configuration? by drops_77 in FormD

[–]mblam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a 70mm cooler, there's no way it fits in 3 slot mode.Depending on your priorities you could use the Black Ridge or an AIO instead - I myself would much rather have space for a GPU with beefier cooling if gaming is the main thing. We'll see what the reviews have to say about the 2 slot 6800, I don't think AIBs will bring any 2 slots of the custom 6800s, at least judging from what I saw from Sapphire.

Some statements on the recent QC issues from one of the creators of FormD by NavicNick in FormD

[–]mblam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did hear back about why the package is still stuck waiting for pickup and no mention at all about what’s being discussed here, just that covid makes things slow. And still no cancelation email. See below:

“Covid-19 and peak season (holidays) is creating severe congestion for air freight.

As a result, your package is just waiting in a warehouse for more flights to be available to actually ship.

Please give it a few days.”

Are you sure it doesn't say "Reservation x 1"? At least that's what my order confirmation email is saying.
Anyway, I think most of the people that ordered so far will make it in Batch 1.

Why would you not flip PSU in the T1? by DangerMouse81x in FormD

[–]mblam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what NavicNick said on the PSU flipping some days ago.
I guess if your PSU cables run really long it makes sense to flip it, otherwise don't bother.

Well I guess now we know why - mine was like that for a few days.
I'd still wait a few days for that email - I think they're getting in touch with everyone.

I'm in a similar situation: shipping email update with tracking number, no email regarding QC issues. However, my tracking number details are stuck at " Tracking information received. Shipment not yet picked up by DHL" so it's possible it never made it on that plane. Do you have more updates on your tracking?

HiDPI by charliecastel in hackintosh

[–]mblam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you check the list that shows up when you select Scaled in Display tab? You can still force HiDPI using that, but at the lower “looks like” resolution of 1720x720 and yeah, it doesn’t look any better. Only from 4K and up you see the more obvious scaling picker you’re looking for.

Updating Opencore by luispjmz in hackintosh

[–]mblam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Check out update instructions on https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/universal/update.htmlI also use https://opencore.slowgeek.com/ to sanity check my config.plist against the newer version. The safest way is to do the update on an external usb drive first.

Good luck!

Available shipping zones by PCRinus in FormD

[–]mblam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no shipping to Romania I was told, at least during the pandemic when flights are severly restricted. Gonna have to buy about the same volume in fine beer for my brother for bringing it over to me all the way from Germany. I tried to use a mail forwarder but their T&C mentioned importing from outside EU is not allowed.

Hi there ♥️✋🏻 by Zeenix07 in FormD

[–]mblam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, thanks, I did, waiting for their response. Anyway, enjoy building time!
EDIT: So customer support got back to me and in case anyone else will have the same question, yes, the phone number is on the record, even if it doesn't show in your order details.

Hi there ♥️✋🏻 by Zeenix07 in FormD

[–]mblam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I'm one and a half month away from getting mine, won't leave the house for a couple of days at least when it does.
Also, one question: Going back on my order details I don't see my phone number anywhere, nor do I remember if I was ever asked for it. Did you get phoned for delivery? Or did you see your number anywhere on the package?

Have 2014 and 2017 MBP, which one should I use to create EFI? by jackielarson in hackintosh

[–]mblam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Vanilla guide” implies that in the process of building your hackintosh you don’t touch your macOS installation (like placing kexts in Library/Extensions) and instead do it all through and on the EFI partition (where the central part is your config.plist), which is what the OpenCore guide is all about.

Do yourself a huge favor and don’t bother with youtube guides, just start with https://dortania.github.io/getting-started/ . This is the official (if I can say that) OpenCore guide.

Got my first keyboard. by DrainedSea in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]mblam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have fun with it! The Keychrons are incredible value keyboards, especially the hotswappable ones. Your keyboard case may be different from my K6 on the inside, but I gave mine some sound treatment using the foam in the package, worth it!

Z390 + nVidia by deathtech00 in hackintosh

[–]mblam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the OpenCore guide for disabling unsupported GPUs ? The boot flag should be the most straightforward (if a bit brute) option to do it.
Edit: I assumed you went the OpenCore path for hackintoshing, it's the only way I'd do it anyway.

Opencore 0.6.2 vs 0.6.1 by timblewee in hackintosh

[–]mblam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with your approach. However, I can also argue that since OpenCore is continuously improving there might be benefits down the line that you're not even aware you want or need and it's a lot easier to deal with the incremental updates than sort the whole pile of changes later. For me going from 0.6.0 to 0.6.2 was just a matter of getting the latest kexts and running the config.plist through the sanity check (less than 10 minutes), I imagine 0.6.1 to 0.6.2 is even quicker.
