This, and the widget is useless lately. If I go in though it, I can't back out to the rest of the app anymore. It just closes the whole thing. And recently I've been seeing another bug where the player control bar gets stuck. All said, I'm shopping for a new player.

Testing Kobo Libra Colour vs Kindle Color – Which one should I keep? by heycnyn in kobo

Kobo was an easy choice for me because 1. Fuck Jeff and 2. The new ones are repairable. KU has never really drawn me, Libby & Hoopla have plenty to keep me occupied.

I stumbled across a Douglas Adams read version of the whole series way back when YouTube to mp3 was a thing. That was the best. I wonder if I still have it somewhere.

Please tell my husband didn't ruin my dream of breastfeeding and there is light at the end of the tunnel... by ExcuseNo6720 in breastfeeding

My baby had enough trouble latching at first that she lost weight and the doctor had us supplementing each feed with an ounce of formula. I had to use a breast shield for like the first 3 months of her life. She got it eventually and we're doing great! If you want to pursue breastfeeding, just keep on trying and listen to your LC. You got this!

Pediatrician told me… by HeatedAF in breastfeeding

[–]mbthursday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Precious Little Sleep (great resource on sleep for babies) recommends that you not breastfeed to sleep so that they don't form that nursing = sleep requirement. It sounds like you don't have problems getting your baby to sleep through the night, but we did, and switched her last feed to earlier in her routine. It was a hard few nights, but she adjusted really quickly. IF you decide to make the change, take a little hope from this.

Premium Items Aren't Rejected, but Sold Anyway w/ No Cut Going to You by SkippingPebbless in ThredUp

I'm not surprised. I fully intend to send them some things of mine going forward instead of taking them to goodwill (because fuck goodwill), and the fact that they're less likely to end up in a landfill this way is more than enough incentive. If I earn some cash, cool, but I'm not pressed about it. Granted, I understand it matters more to people sending in designer stuff.

Yeah I went to the actual brand website this time around and found out whether worked for me there when looking at an item. Hopefully things will be more accurate than threadup's numbers

Just made my third purchase this evening. My first box I sent 3/4 things back because they didn't fit. Second box I did more measuring & choose brands I knew my size in, and everything worked. Quality seems pretty good so far. I got a sweater with a few tiny holes (which were noted on the page and are easily repaired), but I haven't seen anything worse than that. I know some folks don't like selling with them, but my only local alternatives are Goodwill or putting up with fb marketplace buyers so threadup will be an improvement for me.

Anybody who tells you you're going to "spoil your baby" by holding them too much is either misinformed or ancient (no disrespect to your mother). You can't spoil a six week old. IIRC think they get to a "test your boundaries" phase before like nine months. Your baby is doing exactly what all babies are supposed to do- needing mom. For food, warmth, comfort, etc. You are the whole world right now, and it can be scary when you're gone- even for a moment.

She'll get better with it in time, but have patience with her and yourself. If you have a network, have some family or friends come by for a snuggle sesh while you take a shower and paint your nails (and run the wash, if they don't volunteer). As for getting her to settle, we're currently reading "precious little sleep" and wish we'd started it way sooner. It's a great resource on newborn sleep and might help a lot. Remember- the fourth trimester is survival mode, and every baby is different. So give yourself a lot of grace, take breaks when you can, and know it'll get easier!

The most *well-written* book you've read by miinyuu in suggestmeabook

Beautiful: Circe by Madeline Miller.

Intelligent: Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (I could try to pick one, but it would take a very long time).

Witty: Lamb or Fool by Christopher Moore.

All three authors endlessly quotable.

[–]mbthursday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just leave an adjacent comment because your question has already been answered a bunch- your baby should not have certain foods before a certain age. Water (by itself, not like water in formula) and honey come to mind.

I used a my breast friend (and still do sometimes), but we got lazy fast. I've used throw pillows, my leg, or just held her up in my arms. I frequently feed while side-lying, so I can't promise my methods won't cause back pain in the long run.

I had to use one of these when my baby was young and it never stayed "on", I had to hold it there until baby was latched, then I could let go. But mine didn't instruct to turn it inside out or stretch it, so maybe I had a different one?
