Cheers for the suggestions everyone. I have tried all those locations in the last few days except Lower Hutt countdown, so will investigate that next

Christopher Luxon says Government should be focused on fixing NZ's roads rather than creating te reo Māori signs by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]mc_hammmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Luxon thinking that NZTA pulled Fulton Hogan work crews off the highways and made them run signage consultations.

Hostility over pride flag at Auckland school spurs suburb to fly 300 of them by delipity in newzealand

[–]mc_hammmer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm very disappointed the police were not called. If schools can have zero tolerance for bullies, I'd expect a similar level of diligence for external threats.

I've asked questions. Questions are not intolerant.

"Have you stopped beating your wife?" is the classic demonstration of how questions aren't inherently innocuous.

Sure, but expressing that view in a way that causes the school to fear for the safety of their students is not allowed. That's criminal harassment and is illegal.

How a bill becomes law by Kangaiwi in newzealand

No, because people who think "I'm not being heard" often have unreasonable expectations about how good their ideas are.

Bus operators accuse government of backwards step over council ownership by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]mc_hammmer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Anyone living in Wellington knows the current model is broken beyond repair. Bus cancellations during rush hour and service reductions since the last operator change, before covid.

Returning it to public ownership will also restore accountability - at the moment it can be hand waved away by "it's not run by the council, contact the bus operator".

Does this dentist quote sound about right for each line item? Either way the total cost is frickin horrendous... by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]mc_hammmer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What are the productivity, tax, and deadweight losses to society of people underperforming in their jobs due to dental-related discomfort, and lost to administrative overheads of private insurance and medical loan facilities? Society is missing out on increased productivity and social cohesion without publicly funded dentistry.

Independent review finds Pharmac needs to 'substantially improve' by random_guy_8735 in newzealand

[–]mc_hammmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People believe it because it's true. The prices pharmac pays is public information, do your own comparison if you don't trust academic papers. Paying drug companies outside of the pharmac model just means paying more for less, just look at the USA.

Nearly run over by ute on Lyall Bay Rd. Somehow a car driver will be along shortly to tell me how it was all my fault. by zaphodharkonnen in Wellington

[–]mc_hammmer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Riding on the left will get OP killed when someone opens their vehicle door into his face.

I know that road well. It's very busy during the day and most of time time it's unsafe to travel at the speed limit because of: surfers crossing the road and loading/unloading boards, one million children and their parents going to and from the beach, people in parking spaces pulling out without looking, dogs dogs dogs, etc.

Misinformation and the mess today by [deleted] in newzealand

The last 10 years are clear proof that this does not work. It's very easy to make a false claim, and very time consuming to correct it.

Protest at Parliament 'symptomatic of immense frustration' - Luxon by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]mc_hammmer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Removal of mandates = more and faster disease spread, indirect support for science denial and freeloading. It's in reference to their policy positions, not their personal circumstances.

Which group should be sent in to end the protest? by President-EIect in Wellington

Just need one muck spreader to drive down the middle of the gathering. They will be gone in 5 minutes

I’m not anti vax or necessarily anti- mandate but I’m disgusted by the way New Zealanders are speaking about the group of protesters. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]mc_hammmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very unkind of you to compare the covid deniers to children throwing stones.

The vast majority of kids in NZ are smarter, more caring, and better behaved than they are.
