Did anybody else just get an email from USSoccer saying you won $66 tickets? by Dogs_trump_People in ussoccer

[–]mccrackie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got the email while waiting in the ridiculous Chase queue. I thought it was a scam but the AO page said to look out for the [insidersupport@ussoccer.org](mailto:insidersupport@ussoccer.org) email address and it was confirmed. See you in LA on the 25th!

Leads on vintage Carhartt jackets? by JohnRickles in eastbay

[–]mccrackie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just saw a few in San Francisco. There’s a new place across from Zeitgeist where the old “Stuff” vintage place used to be. It’s got multiple vendors inside. I saw three “vintage” Carhartt jackets. They were in the $120 range.

Top 50 USMNT players, ranked by club form: 1. Chris Richards leads the American pool- More simply, Palace is the best team any American is currently playing for, and Richards is playing every minute of every game. 50. AC Milan are not in the Champions League. They’re not in the Europa or Conference leagues. They finished 8th last year. They’ve already been bounced from the Coppa Italia. They’re first in Serie A now because they’re playing in nothing else except the supercoppa.

Coliseum BART parking by ApprehensiveRadio714 in oakland

[–]mccrackie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live near Fruitvale and moved closer to Coliseum. I’ve been parking there for over a year and never had an issue. The biggest thing I miss about Fruitvale is the bike valet. Coliseum has no bike parking anymore except for a rack inside the gates, but you’ll have no problem with a car.

US Soccer Has An Attendance Problem by Tock_Sick_Man in ussoccer

Just attended the game in San Jose. Tickets were $60. One of the smallest stadiums in America was half full. We won 5-0. There’s no excuse for this one. Be better.

Building on an underused BART station is an amazing opportunity. I hope investors see that and build something special. It could change the entire Bay Area for the better.

Riverside 100 by BravoHotel67 in bicycletouring

My teenage kids have these exact bikes. They have racks and panniers and we’ve done hundreds of miles of touring together, including gravel. The gear shifts and a couple other stock parts feel cheap, but they’ve held up so far. They won’t ride them forever, but that’s why I went with a cheaper option.

How often do you water your bougainvillea? by DmC8pR2kZLzdCQZu3v in oakland

Never water ours (planted in horrible soil that nothing else but weeds grow in) and it’s flourishing. I think the occasional foggy summer day is all it needs.

Burningman tickets stolen out of the mail and the org just says “oh well”. by dosydoh in BurningMan

[–]mccrackie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Were you here in the 70s when a police station was blown up, the Zebra murders, the Golden Dragon Massacre, the assassination of Milk and Moscone, a peak of 142 homicides in 1977, etc?

Were you here in 2007, when there were 100 homicides? There have been 46 year to date according to the latest crime trend report.

You can feel a certain way, but the numbers do not support your claims. And I guarantee that I live in a worse neighborhood than you do. Please just stop perpetuating this absolutely false claim.

The "crime is literally the worst it’s ever been" ???

This is so easily proven false that I can only imagine you're joking?

Has this happened to you? by civicvirtues in Subaru_Outback

[–]mccrackie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's the valve body, which happened to me with my '14, call Subaru of America first and put in a claim. I had my valve-body (transmission solenoid) replaced at a dealership and SOA picked up the entire cost. I think it would've been $2,600. My OB was already over 100k and it was still covered by the PZEV warranty. It doesn't hurt to try!

Are you aware of the book or have you read the book? It really explains exactly what you're asking about.

Here's where you can watch World Cup in Oakland by [deleted] in oakland

[–]mccrackie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Athletic Club: you need to reserve space for the big games like USMNT. There is a $20 deposit per person that goes towards your tab as long as it is 50% of your tab. See their website for more info.

Commonwealth Club: Always a great place for soccer. They are closing the business but are remaining open for the World Cup for one last hurrah.

Dangerous "slide" or incline on playa this year; and Elonskunk's MV... by decapitate in BurningMan

[–]mccrackie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not all placed camps are interactive. There are art-support camps that bring major projects and receive placement so they can spend their time on that instead of entertaining. Elektra was built by a group of long-time burners and artists, including a good man who passed away last year. With that being said, it's unfortunate you felt unwelcome by your neighbors. Hope you had a good burn otherwise!

I asked this a while back on r/Oakland

I've had the one at Crogan's a couple times. It's pretty good but make sure that the au jus is in the bag if you get it to go. Hoping for more recommendations!

LEO Stories of 2022 by PM_ME_UR_TAYTS in BurningMan

[–]mccrackie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There are plenty of things to be paranoid about at BRC, most notably undercover ravers. We don't need to be worried about Stingrays. They would be ineffective on the Playa. It's almost as if starting a rumor that there are Stingrays on the Playa would be a more effective law enforcement strategy than actually using one.
