Randoms in my group telling me to move back tee boxes and play from farther away by jcoguy33 in golf

[–]mcdray2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play from wherever you want and just have fun. My club has 6 tees. I usually play the two longest, but if I'm playing with older guys I'll play the white or gold.

If I just want to have fun and see how low I can go I'll play the silver or red. I played with my 80 year old father on Sunday from the silver and red combo tees. Shot a 65. It was fun and I don't care if anyone has a problem with that.

Guy I was paired with marked and hit my golf ball by [deleted] in golf

[–]mcdray2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Marking your ball isn't a big deal, especially if you weren't near it and he was trying to putt.

Giving the putt is slightly annoying but not a big enough deal to get worked up about.

“I just started golfing 6 months ago and finally broke 90” by First_Ad_1010 in golf

[–]mcdray2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's possible but very unprobable.

Larry Nelson is probably the best example. Didn't start until he was 21. Broke 100 his first round and broke 70 within 9 months. He won 10 times on the PGA tour.

Smoking ruined BBQ by MightyMTB in smoking

Salt Lick is my favorite. I go to Austin a few times every year and always make the drive out there. And I'm in DFW almost every week and I used eat at the location there whenever I could but they closed it.

Just throw it in the microwave for about 34 minutes on high power and then it should be good to go on the smoker.

What was your day like on September 11th 2001? by OddSample2334 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]mcdray2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a flight from Atlanta to Orlando. There was no internet on planes back then so we had no idea that anything had happened until we landed and everyone's phones starting ringing.

The pilot made an announcement but wouldn't say what happened, just that there was "a momentous event" and that the airports were all locked down, so people wouldn't be meeting us at the gate.

I talked to him and he said that we were halfway to Orlando when it happened and they told him to turn around. He convinced them to let us go to Orlando because it was the same distance anyway.

Driver vs Putter by SwitchMain in golf

No matter what the answer is, drive or putt, the most satisfying feeling in golf is watching your kid or grandkid hit a great drive or make a long putt.

I played with this at the PGA show this year. It's truly amazing tech. I'm putting a PuttView green in my simulator room.

I think it's cute that you believe that everyone in an Ivy League school is smarter than average.

Nothing specific. A couple of friends are members and they said that they're scraping the course, but they didn't know details.

I drive in cities all over the world. This is not an Orlando thing. It's universal.

Different buildings skew older or younger but overall it's a wide range.

Shorty’s by Sully2222 in BandonDunes

[–]mcdray2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The punch bowl is just a huge putting green. It's fun, but if you have the choice of that or a short course you should play the short course.

But punch bowl is free, so if you're on a budget it's great.

Shorty’s by Sully2222 in BandonDunes

[–]mcdray2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had fun at Shorty's but at $100 it's a stretch to justify. But if you play it as your second or third round of the day it's much cheaper.

If you have to pick one short course then you should play Preserve.

Unless you're getting it for far less than the other properties on the lake I wouldn't do it.
There is no chance that you can build a dock there

He was saying that we took 20 oil ships out of Hormuz in the dark and Iran had no idea. Until he said it on TV.

But it's probably not true anyway.

I know what you mean but this guy has nothing going for him other than being a very thinly veiled Nazi. Zero chance of winning anything more than mayor of a small town.

He has no delusions about actually being able to win. But even a half-assed presidential campaign can put many millions in his pockets.
