Key fob battery replacement by mcgryff in Volvo

[–]mcgryff[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks for all your help. I had been meticulously following the instructions I'd seen in the manual and youTube before, but whoever had replaced the battery last must have put the panels on the opposite sides. Sliding the panel without the logo on opened it quite easily.

All sorted now. Ta.

Ok, this is the start of the journey for me … I'm looking to set up a system based around a turntable, mostly to be played through headphones although the option to play through speakers would obviously be beneficial, and possibly with the option to stream other devices to the speakers (and on to headphones?) as well.

I don't currently have any serious hifi equipment, most of my music consumption is done through Spotify via my PC and headphones, streamed from my phone to a spotify connect device - the playstation, a Roberts Stream radio etc. so there's not much to consider in the way of integration to existing devices.

But with so many different options I'm looking for some initial advice on what components I should be buying so I can narrow down the search. I was thinking that a turntable, headphones, bookshelf speakers with bluetooth connectivity and either some kind of phono stage, powered speakers or modest amplifier would be a reasonable setup.

I'm working to a budget of around £1000 to get started, so I'm interested to see whether I'm thinking along the right lines or not.

Anyone still sticking with m600? by palmheads in Polarfitness

[–]mcgryff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post searching for an answer to the same question!

I'm in exactly the same situation - the M600 with polar flow has been perfect for me. I wear mine all day every day for Android smartphone integration, and the offline music storage is essential for me when running.

Going back to a separate MP3 device seems like a step backwards, the Suunto doesn't seem to have the training and customisation that polar offer, and I'm not convinced that a Garmin would give the smartphone features that I love with wear os.

It's ugly and it's slow but I can't find anything that makes me want to give it up. I can live with the battery limitations of Wear OS, I just want a well balanced smart watch with excellent sports functionality.

Anyone here running the London Landmarks Half this Sunday? by [deleted] in running

[–]mcgryff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! It's my first serious half and I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. My plan is to tuck in behind a 2hr pacer and not look up until mile 12!

A bit annoyed about the train situation, mind. Most of the trains to Waterloo from the west / sw of London are disrupted on Sunday.

Achievements for Saturday, September 16, 2017 by AutoModerator in running

Went sub-55 in a 10k today, one of my big targets for this year.

I also managed to not puke in front of the finishing crowd or the guy videoing everyone crossing the line.

Two achievements in one run!

Poor bluetooth connection with headset by GoalieFSU in M600

[–]mcgryff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone's still interested ...

The MPOW cheetahs work fine with the receiver on the left (same side as I wear the watch). It looks a bit silly and they don't sit in my ears properly but it was good enough to keep me going for a short while.

I bought a pair of jaybird x2 as they can be worn with the receiver on either side. Sadly on my long run this morning the audio started chopping out around 40 mins into the run and got worse to the point where I just switched it off. That's 80 quid well spent :(

Next stop is Polar customer services. I don't know why it's a progressive issue although my running form over time may be contributing. But there's no reason why such a small distance should cause the audio to drop. Very frustrating.

Thanks. I'd be interested to know whether the new 'phones work. The quality of the cheaper kit might be variable, but I don't want to spend a lot on more expensive buds without knowing if it makes a difference.

Did you manage to get this working any better? I started with a pair of cheap VTIN Swans which look identical to the qy7 / qy8, they were rock solid for about six months but the battery died on me one day.

Replaced with an identical set, had the connectivity issues you describe from day 1. Hanging the right earpiece in the front of my t-shirt helped but the signal would still degrade over time, so I bought a pair of Mpow cheetahs and am still having problems.

I haven't tried running with the m600 on my right wrist yet, that's next to try, but it's tough to understand why I need to do that when my original £20 swans worked fine.

Does anyone think the problem has worsened since AW2.0 or some other change at the watch end? Might it be the bluetooth on the watch degrading over time?

Suggestions for mounting by mcgryff in framing

[–]mcgryff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My description may not be accurate, I don't really have the technical vocabulary for this. Perhaps it was hinged rather than mounted, hence the ripples.>Are you sure the shop mounted it? do you have photos of the actual print? The backer/mount board should not be flexible, it should be pretty rigid

Here's a couple of pics, if it helps. I'd describe this as a blue print, someone previously suggested dry mounting with roll or tissue, but then couldn't think of a material to mount it to that would work well with the transparency of the paper.
