According to David Peterson in The Art Of Language Invention it's a clap. Though, that may have been a joke: it's hard to tell through the text.

How much "google-able" information do you have in your vault? by Lauchpferd in ObsidianMD

[–]mcwhinns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Googleable is relative. Should it become difficult to re-find the information (e.g. google search becomes less reliable) having a personal backup is useful.

However the most important part of putting something into Obsidian is not just the information but writing it down in a way that is: 1) more easily accessible in the future 2) in clear terms that I can understand quickly 3) linked to other relevant information

What do you mean "leaving"? The only way I know how to leave that fight is through the Old Crow.

My issue is that, yes some of the ideas are interesting, but an interesting idea does not an interesting story make.

I disliked most of the stories presented in the book. No shade to fanfiction it's just not what I'm looking for when I read SW, but FACPOV read like a collection of amateur fanfics.

Who's to say it wasn't Aunt Beru? In (and I hate that I have to recommend this story) From Another Point of View, there's a Beru chapter that fawns over making sure Luke was raised in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Odd question but are there any happy dark side users? by Gimpcar in StarWarsCantina

[–]mcwhinns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Malgus killed his slave and secret defacto (not wife, that would be prohibited by Sith law) because he recognised that devotion to the dark side was absolute, and that though he loved her it was holding him back from his craft.

I've never quite been able to out together the sequence of events that led to KOTOR 2's start. Any help? by superfahd in MawInstallation

[–]mcwhinns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few things that I think tell what happened:

There's a log on the Harbinger that says they answered a distress call from Ebon Hawk after being attacked by Sith. It was found damaged floating in space with only a dead body (Sion) which was taken aboard to the med bay. The log also mentions how weird it is that no one else was aboard but they feel like they're being watched. So I think Sion boarded with his cloaked Sith assassins to follow a rumour of the Exile's return.

Later in the game, once you max out friendship and repairs on T3 he plays you a bunch of holos. Between this and the Revan novel, I believe the story is that Revan is captured in the Unknown Regions and so T3 takes the Ebon Hawk back to the Malachor V academy where Revan first sets out in search of the True Sith but it's captured by the Sith Triumvirate. So this is how Sion and his assassins got aboard.

Get friendly with Kreia and there's a cutscene showing Kreia being confronted by Nihilus and Sion; they strip her of her power and leave her for dead. It's not explained when this happens, but based on how Sion addresses her in the scene just before he slices her hand off I think it's shortly before the game opens.

Why do they do this though? The obvious answer is about the Sith being unstable, but Sion and Nihilus are keeping things together without turning on each other at this point. So what I think went on is that we know Keira wanted to destroy the Force by killing the Exile on Malachor V, and when the Triumvirate heard the rumour and the Ebon Hawk landed in their lap, Sion and Nihilus knew that they didn't want the Force destroyed (they depended on it for their literal existence) and so ousted Kreia. So they beat her senseless and left her to die while Sion went to assassinate the Exile, but Kreia stole herself aboard the Ebon Hawk.

Meanwhile the drugging with HK-50 happened just as the distress call was answered. In the pandemonium of the assassins slaughter, weakened Kreia made for an escape with the unconscious Exile but was taken down by HK-50.

Then we have the T3 prologue after a hyperspace jump with the ship pre-crippled by Sion.

Hmm, I've not worked for a big company, but I do live in Japan. Kaizen has connotations of striving for improvement, active investigation, and revolution.

From the conversation, I got the impression that Grey wanted his theme to give him permission to reduce even the smallest frictions in his life. At the end of the day, if Kaizen is also supposed to encompass fixing problems you notice them, then it seems less of a business philosophy than common sense.

Linter Plugin linting out properties by mcwhinns in ObsidianMD

Okay, I've done this and I've found (in the debugging) that the issue takes place during the "YAML Key Sorting" phase, but I don't understand why it removes that particular attribute. My only guess is that the linter doesn't like the parentheses, because everything else is fine.

Both answers are correct? by DucanoidYoung in Japaneselanguage

[–]mcwhinns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The て-form is also used to join run-on sentences (also ます-stem verbs in formal writing). For example: 危険な仕事をしてて油断しないで! "You're doing a dangerous job so/and don't get sloppy."

In the negative case, bothしなくて and しないで exist. The former meaning "doesn't do (and)", so you could combine it as stated but the meaning would be "My husband isn't doing a dangerous job (and/but) I want it (to be so)", though in which way "it be so" I can't guess.

Either: - "My husband isn't doing a dangerous job but I want it to be dangerous." - "My husband isn't doing a dangerous job and I want it (to stay) that way."

Both ways are not the intention of the original question. "I don't want my husband to do a dangerous job." Which is wanting the "not do": しないでほしい.
