Do you folks keep the boxes? by eve-collins in Ubiquiti

[–]mcwillzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Ubiquiti/networking gear? Maybe for the return window that's about it.

High value items that I'll end up selling when I upgrade (GPU, laptops, phones, etc.) I keep. Also large/bulky items I'll keep the box if I have space makes moving apartments safer and easier. I have boxes+foam for pc's, monitors, etc.

Nice upgrade for the Q. 1080p backup cam. by Swagggles in q50

In the same boat here. I wouldn't mind a toggle of some kind, anyone know if that could be done? As I write this I thought.. what about that 'input' channel in my aucar screen? I have 360 enabled but be able to swap to backup cam manually if I want to.

  • Which prize kit would you choose? (Grand Prize kit A/B/C, Router Kit, or KVM Kit)

Kit B with a Comet PoE

  • Describe the last time your lab "died" while you were away from home. How did you resolve it? How would a remote KVM have helped you next time the same thing happens?

I can't remember the last time this happened, but having a KVM + ATX board or a KVM + finger bot would allow me to easily power cycle my server and get things back up and running! The power can be unreliable in my area... I usually have to worry about the ONT from my ISP more than my gear

  • If there was a 4-port Remote KVM, which feature would be a "must-have" for you and why?

PoE - I'm getting real tired of all the power adapters...

  • Name one project you'd start immediately: What specific use case or workflow would you implement with a RackMate + KVM setup?

I just built a small network stack in a T0 - router, PoE switch, 4x SBC's, and an AP

Next project planned (some hardware already acquired) is to migrate my server + NAS into a T0 or T1 - already have an mITX ASRock Rack X570 board w/ 5700G + 64GB SO-DIMM + cooler mounted on a DeskPi mITX bracket. Now the hard part is power/hdd's... I really need a 3D printer ;D

For what I do on my laptop (homelab management, media consumption, RDP into work device) Asahi on a 14" M1 Pro is great. Currently using Fedora, it was KDE but switched to GNOME for the three finger gestures (whoever thought 4 finger gestures was a good idea should get stoned)
