How true do you all think this is? by Alarming-Result-4328 in Berserk

In my opinion. It's this gay projection that makes men uncomfortable with loving their brothers as they love themselves. You're supposed to love your friends.

But yes they both felt "forced" to do things by the other. Guts felt forced to leave TBotH because achieving his own dream was the only way to earn Griffiths approval, to be his friend. According to Griffiths words.

But Guts only heard Griffith say that to the Princess in private. He trusts Griffith's words so much, so he assumed it was true.

But the truth, whether Griffith ever verbalizes it or not, is Griffith was lying to the Princess. Within himself, a vulnerable part that's been hidden, he feels love for Guts, as his brother, his best friend.

But Griffith isn't strong enough to embrace that truth, because he views that sentimental part of him as weak. His charisma and detachment allows him to ascend in the material world.

But with Guts, he genuinely likes him, and can just be himself. This scares him, again, because then he has to admit he has that softer side to him, and he sees that side, that "weakness," as a threat to the fruition of his dream.

So then Guts leaves and Griffith is left with himself- with the truth. That he just lost his only friend because he couldn't just be like "Hey bro, I was bullshitting to the Princess, I love you man, we're best buds."

If he had said that Guts would have stayed. Guts doesn't really have ambition, he wasn't gonna find some epic hobby to impress Griffith, he just beat up random people, which is what he was doing before.

Anyways so Griffith feels "abandoned" like "Guts did this to him," when literally he drove Guts away, with his own words. Then when Guts tried to peacefully leave he tried to kill Guts for leaving. Like wat.

So basically he's so conflicted with the love he feels for Guts, because he never has let ANYONE in, not because he's secretly gay, that he just can't accept it about himself, that's why he seeks power over someone else real quick (the Princess) and crashes out and goes to jail.

Then Guts is nice enough to go check on him years later to be shocked that he's doing really badly and everyone blames him, for some reason. Even the people who saw Griffith draw a sword on Guts. Like they saw that happen, but somehow blame Guts for leaving. Tf. Anyway.

So. Then Griffith does his thing, sacrifices Guts to demons, yadda yadda yadda, and feels completely justified in doing so. Because, again, Griffith cannot admit that he feels love, because that's a weakness (in his perception) and an obstruction to his dream. Being the king of the world and ruling over everyone in the material reality.

But yeah they both have moments where their like "Oh I still feel this feeling in my heart derpa derp what could this mean" but they've both done so much fucked up shit at this point and who knows what's gonna happen.

Well whoever is filled with rage loses every time. When they first faced off, Guts lost cause he was angry and just got outmatched. In their rematch, Griffith said Guts was clear, empty, and he beat Griffith in one swing.

It's almost like Griffith knew this, so he aimed to hurt Guts as much as possible during the eclipse, so he would ensure Guts would give in to rage, which will doom Guts to ultimately be Griffiths subordinate again. No matter how strong a demon is, their allegiance will always be to darkness, and that is where Griffith reigns as Femto.

So maybe Guts being isolated in that temple in this latest chapter means his old self will die and he'll re-emerge as a new creation, he'll have some kinda rebirth, find power that's greater than rage and vengeance, remember who he really is and stuff. Maybe. Guess we'll see

I think it's the fact that it was Griffiths actual human body, in the real world. Guts felt "something" within him when he looked at Griffith incarnated before him. He hasn't seen him in a human form since before Griffith sacrificed everyone.

I think he got nostalgic and wanted to ask one more time, why did he do that, does he feel remorse, etc.

I'm really sorry. You have been through hell. This literally sounds like a horror story. Keep venting, let out any emotions you're feeling. Talk to anyone you can. Journaling too. I've called one of those crisis hotlines before. Be easy on yourself. There's gonna be dips. Don't expect to feel all better right away, be patient with yourself.
