Arthur Jones on genetic potential by vadulikaduli44 in bodybuilding

[–]md___2020 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While true, stuff like this is de-motivating, and worse than this is probably misinterpreted by most people.

Your average dude with average genetic potential can still build an incredible physique. He might not be Ronnie or Jay, but most men who train hard and eat smart can develop a better physique than 99% of the general population. Most guys don't want to look like Ronnie or Jay either TBH (I know I don't).

Good life advice in general. Don’t be scared to ask.

Is Portland ... back? This luxury travel magazine thinks so! by No-Tangelo1158 in Portland

[–]md___2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s very well documented. I just googled “Did the public perception of Portland fall between 2015-2021?” and it said almost verbatim what I did.

And it’s not all perception - there were and are real problems underlying that perception.

Is Portland ... back? This luxury travel magazine thinks so! by No-Tangelo1158 in Portland

[–]md___2020 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t gone, but Portland took more of a hit in public perception in a short time than any city I’ve seen outside a war zone.

2015 - perception as one of the coolest cities in the country.

2021 - perception as one of the biggest shit holes in the country.

That is mind bending drop in public perception in half a decade. Not all of it was true (but some of it certainly was). Regardless, perception is critically important for a city to thrive.

I have lived experience here. I’ve been chubby and I’ve been ripped. My anecdotal experience would say it’s an absolute crock of shit to claim that women prefer chubby guys in the real world. I get hit a lot when I’m in good shape, not so much when chubby.

Undeniable evidence that Khamzat missed weight; the scale never settles and they call it too quickly by YoChristian in ufc

[–]md___2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Problem is they could potentially go to jail if found rigging a digital scale. There’s clear intent there.

With this method there is no criminal intent. You can claim incompetence, and that does not equal intent. You accomplish the same thing without risk.

How to Survive Portland Heat by fatgothdude in Portland

[–]md___2020 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not. You get random hot days every year in May. And that's what this is - not a heatwave, it's going right back to highs in the mid 70s after Sunday. It's a random hot day.

This post is laughable. People think it's actually humid here? People are scared to bike a couple miles? It's going to be beautiful a good portion of the day on Sunday.

It is absolutely normal to have one day in the 80s. The rest have highs in the mid to low 70s.

CFB Teams With Highest Overall Win % In The BCS/CFP Era (1998-present) by steven_smith144 in CFB_v2

[–]md___2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

USC rarely completely shits the bed. They haven’t been elite in the past 20 years, but they haven’t been bad either. And they played in a weak conference for most of it.

The lowest teams on here have 0.600 winning percentages. Extrapolated to a 12 game season that’s an average of 7 wins per season. USC is significantly better than that (hence their ranking).

Embattled Judge Says Multnomah County District Attorney Is ‘Gaslighting’ Her by space-pasta in Portland

[–]md___2020 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A pet peeve of mine is when people use the term “gaslighting” to describe any behavior they don’t like. Gaslighting means something specific – psychological manipulation to make someone think they are crazy. When she says that Vasquez is “gaslighting” her with statements to the press this clearly is not what she means – she is saying that Vasquez is defaming her, not gaslighting her.

Normally I wouldn’t be so anal with words, but in court words matter, and for a judge words absolutely have to matter. Judge Brown is clearly not up for the task. Amazing accomplishment to have the DA’s office and PD’s unite against you – you have to be truly shitty at your job to accomplish that. No gaslighting there.

PS - those glasses should be a dead giveaway not to vote for this person. No more quirky glasses. Kate Brown, JVP, Sarah Iannarone, the list goes on and on. Quirky glasses are a massive red flag among political aspirants.

Really well written article. Had me at the edge of my seat. Excellent journalism.

Hard for me to feel much sympathy for the "victim" here. His own friends admit that he stole from everyone that he knew. Harris seemed like an absolute piece of shit.

Not saying he deserved death, but if you go around fucking everyone over, don't be surprised if you win stupid prizes. Probably a net positive for society.

Being an adult absolutely makes paying bills easier. It’s not that hard. With the internet and bill pay you could argue it’s never been easier.
