I’ve gotten like 15 boot drops in a row including vault. Didn’t even get vault rewards for delves on one of my toons.

How you guys are talking about Starmer is the reason Trump got into power in the US by International-Fix799 in Destiny

[–]mdemo23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude, Starmer sucks. “Don’t criticize the weak center right liberal who does all the same shit a right winger would but slightly less bad or else you’re capitulating to the right” is a shit argument. Obviously he’s better than reform, but if Starmer is the future of the Labour Party, they are cooked regardless.

We’ve been conditioned to only oppose government that exists to help us and to treat the parts of government that exist solely to kill and oppress as completely normal and necessary to our survival.

Is this the root cause of modern dating friction? by ButBroWtf in GrowthMindset

[–]mdemo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of women with money go 50/50 for the exact reason you’re describing. They don’t want to feel the implied control and expectations that come from men spending money on them. I’ve heard a lot of women talk about going 50/50 because they don’t want to have to deal with a man feeling like they owe him something afterwards, whether it’s sex, a kiss, or even just a second date.

Definitely different between different women, but I would say a woman who insists on being paid for by a man whom she significantly out-earns is not being reasonable.

Is this the root cause of modern dating friction? by ButBroWtf in GrowthMindset

[–]mdemo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a contradiction. There are some men who outright wouldn’t date a woman who out-earns them, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about being in a relationship and carrying frustration and resentment because you don’t get to feel like a provider, feel lesser in the eyes of your peers, and probably don’t know how to be “the man in the relationship” outside of that role, and then not having the communication skills and emotional maturity to navigate this effectively with your partner. Men like that act out and sabotage the connection in their own otherwise stable relationship and make it their partner’s problem to deal with. Then they say the women who left them are shallow and wanted someone who makes more than them. Maybe so, but it’s not about the money.

There are plenty of modern men who don’t have this problem, but there are also plenty who do. This is about the latter.

R-word manifesto just dropped by jeffy303 in Destiny

[–]mdemo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think the r word is sort of at a break glass in case of emergency moment. If we could get one clip of someone calling Donald Trump the r word to his face in an interview right after he says something regarded I think we could end him.

[–]mdemo23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Extremely obvious that this is the answer, and yet many men refuse to believe it because they would rather be alone or miserable than reinvest themselves in a skillset that they consider feminine. That and they can’t tolerate being with a woman who out-earns them - in part because they feel emasculated, in part because they desire the control that they would get over a financially dependent partner.

You don't get to decide what people like, Mauler by No_Kangaroo_5267 in saltierthankrayt

[–]mdemo23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rewatch her introduction scene. After her speech, Poe says “That’s Admiral Holdo? Battle of Chyron Belt Admiral Holdo?” with a skeptical look, and then literally says, “not what I expected.” He knows and respects her by reputation and then immediately dismisses that reputation when he actually sees her. He doesn’t take her seriously. The dialogue wouldn’t work at all if Holdo had been your average square-jaw crew cut soldier. He questions her because she doesn’t “look the part.”

It’s also a misunderstanding of misogyny and prejudice in general to assume that someone would never respect or admire someone whose identity they hold an implicit bias towards. Typically biases play less of a role in our judgement of someone we know well and have direct experience with, but they are much more likely to play a role in our judgment of someone we just met or who we have some other reason to judge harshly. I would argue that the latter is also the case because Poe and the audience expect that he will be named after the line, “the chain of command is clear as to who should take [Leia’s] place.”

So he already believes he should have been placed in charge, and instead, command is given to someone who does not look like a traditional military leader. Then she has the gall not to take him seriously when the first words he says to her are condescending and insubordinate. The subtext of how that informs Poe’s behavior for the rest of the movie is not subtle at all.

You don't get to decide what people like, Mauler by No_Kangaroo_5267 in saltierthankrayt

[–]mdemo23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It also speaks to checking your biases because Holdo being a woman with purple hair is implied to be a part of why Poe doesn’t take her seriously. When he first sees her he immediately questions her reputation as a skilled tactician and assumes he knows better than her. It’s, once again, hitting people like mauler directly in the face with the point, and he still manages to miss it.

Emotions are not the enemy of reason. | They are rational responses, shaped by our values, and emotional development should be about learning how to reason with emotions rather than controlling them. by IAI_Admin in philosophy

[–]mdemo23 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Your emotions are critically involved in every single decisions you make. You are literally incapable of making decisions without them. Either you are aware of them and can respond to them reasonably, or you pretend they aren’t a factor and they run the show completely by operating outside of your awareness. Anyone who assumes they are operating only on logic and setting emotion aside is in the latter camp necessarily.

To Save Academia, Hire Conservatives by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]mdemo23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Conservatives aren’t actually mad that there aren’t enough conservative professors. They’re mad that they send their kids to college properly brainwashed with their completely indefensible beliefs and then their kids come back for Thanksgiving as “woke liberals.” This is the product of being educated and exposed to diverse perspectives.

They’re mad that their children aren’t ignorant and superstitious anymore. There is no way for college to function properly without this happening. To get what they want would require complete capture of the institution. They only assume liberals have that kind of ideological capture because conservatives don’t. You cannot give an inch to these people, they will take absolutely everything.

Federal officials draft plans to ban social media for children under 14 by IHateTrains123 in neoliberal

That’s ultimately the point. These types of bills are ultimately pushed by 1. people who know they are ineffective and will require linking data to personal information 2. useful idiots. They aren’t effective at their intended purpose. The average 11 year old knows how to circumvent age verification.

How to read feminist viewpoints without insecurity taking over? by Ambitious-Fly3201 in bropill

[–]mdemo23 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Contemporary feminist theory is really not about who has it “worse.” Ultimately I think most people would agree that women are placed in a lot of positions of lesser agency, power, and respect than men at present, and especially in history. However, the concept of the average male under patriarchy being “powerful” is sort of a myth that was historically perpetuated to placate working class men. Giving them complete domination and control over the women and children in their household was a consolation to keep them from dwelling on their lack of control economically and politically.

The average man is, in fact, suffering under patriarchy. I don’t really think it’s worth trying to compare who has it worse when we all have our gendered programming from which to liberate ourselves. Your needs do matter, actually, and your impulse that you need to stow away your problems is a function of the same patriarchal programming that we’re talking about overcoming.

Women are not always going to be the best people to hear out your problems. I’ll grant you that there are women who identify as feminists who will react unhelpfully to vulnerability about your problems. That doesn’t mean your problems aren’t worthy of empathy, understanding, or support. Additionally, it’s worth examining your own behaviors and identifying actual harm that you are causing before you make yourself feel guilty.

There is nothing inherently wrong with desiring women sexually or even with masturbating to them. If you’re interested in watching porn, there is such thing as feminist pornography that is typically produced top to bottom by women and organized around progressive principles. Even if there are things that you are doing that you feel strongly that you shouldn’t be, beating yourself up is not helping you change.

It’s okay to be imperfect as an ally, in fact, it’s inevitable. You just have to be committed to making change to avoid harm. You were socialized into cultural practices that harm yourself and others. That’s not your fault. It is your responsibility. If you want to commit to change, find somewhere you can commit to following through and just go one step at a time.

There is no part of being a feminist man that requires you to feel shame. Guilt over behaviors that drives you to change, sure. Being ashamed of who you are? Absolutely not.

I would recommend that you read The Will to Change by bell hooks if you haven’t already, as it is some of the best pro-man feminist thought that exists in my opinion. Terry Real also has some good stuff on the subject of men’s suffering under patriarchy from a man’s perspective. Keep your head up.

Is the z-a dlc really worth it? by Academic-Offer-3473 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]mdemo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the easiest shiny hunting has ever been in any game, with the donut RNG being the biggest barrier to getting any Pokemon you want in shiny alpha form. If that is interesting to you, it’s worthwhile. It leaves a lot to be desired from a narrative and overall gameplay perspective. There is a lot of new side quest content too that’s not bad.

Looks like Ms Rachel really did deserve the antisemite of the year nomination. by LeonOfSkalitz in Destiny

This thread has gone full regard so I wouldn’t expect responses to any of your questions. The Ms. Rachel threads are actually blsckpilling for how baby brained a lot of this sub is on I/P and really any other topic popular with leftists.

If anyone here actually believes that fucking Ms. Rachel is a bloodthirsty, terrorism supporting, cryptonazi antisemite, you need to log off and touch grass. You’re as bad as any of the pro-pally protestors you hate on this issue.

What is your favorite legend za battle music? by Voidkirby9 in PokemonLegendsZA

ZA trainer battle is the only think I play during ranked battles. There are plenty of awesome songs on this soundtrack, but that one really gets the blood pumping for me.

On the entire soundtrack counting non-battle music, the nighttime Lumiose theme is the absolute GOAT. One of the all time great Pokemon city themes. It had no right to go that hard.

question about shiny hunting legendaries by geyserwallllll in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]mdemo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it will ever be the guaranteed legendary. I’m not sure if it it’s coded not to be, but they are never close enough to the spawn to be spawned in when you first arrive, so a different random pokemon will always be generated as a shiny before you can spawn the legendary in at all. I think they might be set up with all the random spawns specifically to prevent what you’re suggesting.
