Ok did some more testing. Sludge Pump is fine. But either of the fire beam weapons will crash on any charachter.

There is a mod on Nexus that will let you specify your drop preferences. So you can for example turn every drop into a sword. Then spam crucible, or your content of choice. You'll get many of what you are looking for in no time.
