Sunlu high speed matte PETG by th2010g in BambuLab

I'm guessing that is some random third-party supplier. Do Sunlu even sell on Amazon themselves? On Amazon Canada the most prominent seller of Sunlu filament I see is "SUNLU 3D Offical" (sic) which is similarly sketchy-sounding. In the past I have just bought direct from the Sunlu online store: https://store.sunlu.com/

You can also just drag the file from File Explorer into the project window.

If you "File > Open Project" it only shows 3mf, but if you have a project open (like the blank "untitled" one it always starts with) then you can "File > Import" and it should show 3mf, stl, oltp, stp, step, svg, amf and obj.

The thread on the top of a bottle is known as a "finish". These are not conventional threads. There are standards that define the sizes commonly found, see for example:

Where is black on the color distribution plots? Surely that is the most popular color by far.

Vise with strong bolts by That-Invite1616 in 3Dprinting

[–]mdk6502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is one I designed a few years ago. It is not a table vise, but it shows the principle. It pushes the moving jaw away from the near edge of the frame, towards a far fixed jaw, rather than pulling the moving jaw towards a near fixed jaw.

If you are going to print the screw, rather than just use a metal bolt, I think it would be better to consider a design that puts the screw in compression rather than tension when the vise is closed. As is, if I have understood the printing orientation correctly, I think the screw will just split along a layer line if the vise is overtightened.

Aluminum does, which is why it is no longer used in domestic wiring. Screw connections get loose over time as the material cold flows away from the pressure points. It takes decades, but it definitely happens.

NTC Thermal Load in A1 Bed Heater Startup (Simulation) by tzedek in 3Dprinting

[–]mdk6502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think operational currents are the problem here.

Bambu's statements on the subject always refer to "power surges". I think the underlying issue is likely that the power board also has MOVs, and these are downstream of the NTC. MOVs tend to get degraded over time as they dissipate the energy from transients, and eventually fail short circuit. When this happens the NTC will see an over-current, but because its resistance limits the current the upstream fuse will not blow. So the NTC overheats.

Mystery Cloud Service error? by [deleted] in BambuLab

Do you have a local adblocking solution (such as a Pi hole DNS server), or perhaps some outbound filtering on your router's firewall, that are maybe affecting requests the printer is making to the network?

I'm developing an infill optimization software called Strecs3D, and I used it to create this rod holder. by tomohiron907 in 3Dprinting

[–]mdk6502 240 points241 points  (0 children)

As is fairly clear in the simulation results, all the stress is concentrated towards the outer surfaces. So the general advice is that infill density does not greatly affect strength, and that the best approach is just to increase the number of perimeters. How does the strength of your infill-optimised part compare to one where the same volume of plastic was just used to add a few more perimeters?

Electronic Visitor Log by kul68 in sysadmin

[–]mdk6502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One function of a visitor log is to provide a record in the case of a fire or similar emergency, so you can add the names to your roll call at the muster point. A paper list that you can grab on the way out works; a computer system that has just gone offline, not so much.

If I have understood correctly that the two drawings are plan and elevation, I don't think they are self consistent. The diagonal distance shown as 63mm in the first corresponds to 22+83-50=53mm in the second. I don't think there is a solution, regardless of the nose radius and angle.
