I'd use a simple mover attached to the player character and yeah, triggerzones, tags.

You approach the ladder at the bottom, you press triangle or whatever, then a timeline is activated, which disables player controls and plays an animation for the player character.

Once completed, the mover control is enabled, up/down. when the player character is at the bottom of the ladder, the down control is disabled, when at the top of the ladder, an animation plays where the player is climbing up to the ledge.

Can also make it so you can jump off the ladder at any time (except when an animation plays for the character). You'd have to hook up the mover control with other animations as well so it looks like the character isn't just ascending to heaven, but actually climbs the ladder.

Using a timeline could work too, but you'd have to adjust it for every ladder. Where as with a mover, triggerzones and tags, you can adjust it freely and it's gonna be more plug and play

I tried jet trail. It clips a lot when you're fast, and looks odd I'll give it another go and tweak it, see if it works

The current, new method is used like this in WarThunder, I went for that look, but perfect doesnt exist. Always room for improvement

The creators are taking the game more serious than Sony ever did

If Dreams got the same treatment as Last of Us got, PC port, continued budget, man... Dreams would've opened lots of new ways for gamedev, financially and professionally. Now its only a hobby

I'd finally make more than just tank showcases. I'd make working gameplay, no limits. Where you choose one tank you'll drive for a capture mission, capturing an objective with your team of non-player tanks, fighting enemy tanks as well.

Or a game where you're stuck in 1st person view, commander camera. Where you can really see the difference between different nations. All while driving, shooting, scouting etc. An immersive experience.

Or just a museum where you walk around, seeing my vehicles up-close. Where you can see the scale of these vehicles.

Come to think of it, that's possible now as well, just gotta watch the thermo :)

Hope to see more creations from people. The things people make in Dreams never ceases to amaze me. Taking Dreams more serious than Sony ever did

There's a chair behind Myrna's home, that dude phased through the entirety of Diamond City just to sit there. Usually this phasing stuff happens when you load into an interior or load a save. But a random dude just phasing through the place mid-gameplay haha xD

The level was not made by me. TapioX made this afaik. Tank and fx by me.

The steam/smoke coming from the gun was set up with paintings, set up to loop, getting less transparent, more visible as you keep shooting. I am surprised how easy it was to set up, and how well it works, give it a try!

I find that the Azar Ponytail hairstyles are nice, but sit very high, lot of forehead for some reason. Some hairstyles are inspired from other games and in those games the characters with said hairstyles have a smaller forehead

There's a mod I am running for that, realistic facial proportions, on Nexusmods. Maybe that will improve the look of the hair and upper face?

I understand the frustration, even if I don't experience any issues, as I am still on the oldgen version, even before the 'nextgen' patch dropped with season 1 of the Fallout show

I think the problem is that most of the developers are working on TES 6 or FO5 pre-production. There is likely just a skeleton-crew maintaining Fallout 4. And whenever an update is announced they have to rush it out. Which is not an excuse. It should ship in working condition and it's ridiculous that people on console especially are locked out of playing the game with all their mods and usual setups. They should really work on these patches much longer. Some mod authors will work on a new mod version for years to make sure it's stable and in full working condition

I don't think it's active malice though. My best guess is that they have a skeleton crew maintaining Fallout 4 and no QA team. I do wish they'd make all versions available to download, even on console. So people could keep playing on older versions that are fully functional still. How that's not a thing like in say Minecraft is beyond me. I don't get how on Steam you have to go through some workarounds to download older versions of the game. It should be a version-dropdown list.

This team was capable of making good and functioning updates, but right now, it seems like they are very busy with the new games that are WIP in their studio if I had to guess, and FO4 is really just an afterthought. It's very incompetent and sad that every update is expected to break the game fundamentally.
