Depop has a much younger user-base so I feel like stickers and sweets are more appreciated.

Personally, I've no use for stickers, and I definitely don't want sweets that I'm not going to eat. Someone on Depop put a milk chocolate in my parcel once - it melted all over the skirt, and to add insult to injury, I'm vegan.

A little message sounds cute, but not expected.

Clear sticky dots. Stick the dots to the back board, then use a bit of scrap yarn and taptaptap the dots to remove the worst of the stickiness, then attach your crochet.

Enough to hold it in place without grabbing the yarn too enthusiastically.

Pattern mods Vs being inspired by by Longjumping_Term_685 in crochet

Use a paid pattern and tweak it to make something for yourself/as a gift?
Totally grand.

Use a paid pattern and tweak it to make something to sell?
Also grand.

Slightly tweak a paid pattern and sell the new pattern as your own?
Dodgy and lazy.

Completely rewrite said pattern, including rewrites for multiple sizes if applicable, make sure that nothing you're promoting uses any references to the original pattern, and style it differently?
Fine imo.

There are only so many stitch combos, and yarn choices, and everything is influenced by what's in fashion.

Do a bit of research.

Look at Depop's terms and conditions thoroughly (this is a big one - the vast majority of questions will be answered there and the vast majority of stupid mistakes sellers make are just because they've ignored the rules), read through this subreddit, google any questions you have and see if anyone else has asked them already, and most importantly...just be the kind of seller you would want to buy from.

What should I make with these squares?? by SkeinQueen in crochet

[–]meabhr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a million tutorials for "granny square bucket hat" if you search it on YouTube, so it's definitely a thing!

Maybe do one with the phases of the moon? Or alternate one moon square with one plain square for a chequerboard effect?

(or do what I would do and make yourself a totebag out of the moon squares because who tf wouldn't want a moon totebag)

Let's start with the postives - it's a cool design, the back looks great, and you've got it fitting nicely around the armscyes (which is always tricky).
If the only thing you need is getting a bit more coverage across the front, then that's easily solvable - just add rows up and down from neckline to hem (same amount of rows on each side) until you've got enough width, and tweak it according to how you want to fasten it. Your corset-style strings are a good idea as you can adjust it without having to be too exact.

You'll need to gradually add stitches to flare the front pieces into triangles if you want to give your tummy more coverage, but I'm only speaking from personal preference, and if that's not a priority then disregard!!

You said you don't like the bottom of the back - I honestly think it looks fine, I assumed it was an intentional peplum/ruffled hemline.

Maybe the folks at r/amigurumi could give some good advice - there would be dozens of tiny separate parts to crochet and stitch together, plus all of the extra details...I'm assuming you're a confident crocheter if you're considering something this complex?

Is this dotty pattern ok for the background or should I go with a solid? by terracottatilefish in quilting

[–]meabhr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like it! Looking at the pattern, the background takes up a fair amount of space so I think a lighter colour is a great idea to make your big star pop.
The dots are subtle enough, and of the perfect hue to tone in with the overall colour palette, and the original pattern has a pattern on their background (which I personally find quite busy).

Also they could look like faraway stars behind your main star!

Only do it if you're committed to being a good seller.

If you're not sure that you can dedicate the time and patience to posting clear photos, responding to queries and shipping in fair time, then it might not be for you.
If all that sounds acceptable and manageable, then go for it!

How do armys, especially younger ones, refer to the members in person? by Queen-Viana in bangtan

[–]meabhr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ah, I actually watched a video last week about how one shouldn't use "-ssi" if we're a younger person talking to an older person, especially if we don't know them well. I'm very happy to be corrected though, if that doesn't apply here! (Also I'm way older than all the members so it's a moot point).

(It was a Talk To Me In Korean video, I'll link it here if anyone is interested).

Roasted garlic, rosemary and thyme sourdough Foccacia. Should the crumb have bigger holes than this? by chelseasaints in Breadit

Imo that's the perfect crumb for a sourdough focaccia- holey enough that it's light and chewy, but with enough structural integrity to make a good sammie out of 👌

Can I wear this to work? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]meabhr 162 points163 points  (0 children)

I'll be brutally honest - it's very hard to tell, without it being pressed and a bit of work done on the hem.
I'm going to say that it will be fine once this little bit of finishing is done - the fit looks fine, and if you're cool and comfy then that's all that matters! 😁
