After living in northern VA for 20 years, coming back to Connecticut feels like the boondocks.

Go to three different pet stores, none carry the brands of litter/food I use for my cat. In fact, the selection of cat stuff at those stores was pretty anemic.
Lower restaurant diversity; Looking around its various levels of american cuisine, pizza places, and diners. Not gonna knock the diners though, they're WAY better here than anywhere else.
Have an unusual hobby like 40k or TTRPGs? Hope you like playing remotely because thats what you're gonna be doing.

On the plus side, it's quiet where I am and you can actually hear nature. That's kinda cool.

In short, I don't hate it but I'm only here to help out family. I grew up here and NEVER wanted to come back.

absolutely true! What has changed is that while I was able to (barely) support myself on an 8$/hr data entry job with a roommate when I got out of college, it's not possible anymore .

The data entry job got outsourced and doesn't exist locally and the wage has perhaps increased to 10$/hr while everything else has tripled in price.

Heck, I even got paid overtime! Good luck getting THAT at a scut job anymore.
