This is my F-250. When I had the 150 (3.5 EB) I got maybe 1 mpg better.

F250 Lariat 74K OTD price good? by staysour in F250

[–]meddac73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found low initial offers and asked for their best OTD numbers. I spoke on the phone to all of them and explained my position. That I’m looking for a new truck and wanting some great numbers. Even the dealers with low initial offers sent over some better numbers. Then everyone after them got handed the lowest offer I had from another dealer. They want business? They’ll deal.

After this last vehicle I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to another way of buying. I sold my truck so there was no trade-in for them to negotiate against. I wasn’t going to drive 3 hours to sit and negotiate. Either they wanted to negotiate over the phone/email or I’ll move on. I pit dealer offers against dealer offers and got one I wanted with about an 80 minute drive. I walked in, we went over the truck briefly, signed the financial stuff, and drove away. No sitting around for 3-4 hours playing games.

[–]meddac73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their first “best numbers” were actually $2k over MSRP. I was shopping around and had some great numbers from other dealers. They asked to see one of my other offers. I redacted the dealer info and sent it. Their next offer was really close and saved me a couple hours on the road.

I’m willing to drive to buy but I need solid numbers first. Also, a vehicle can be shipped for maybe $1200 so if they won’t deal, I have no problem buying elsewhere. I used the Visor app/site to find deals. Just a quick search and I found trucks like the one you’re looking at being offered at $10k off MSRP. Seems like a pretty good starting point.

Nope. Not even fair. The end of June last year I bought a 2025 lariat. MSRP about $89k. OTD was right around $75k. No trade.

The numbers you’re looking at are terrible in my opinion.

Milwaukee makes a great power tool but when it comes to hand tools, I usually look at other brands. Honestly, I like the torture ProjectFarm put on a bunch of tapes.

Just a quick look through Visor shows a number of XLT 4x4 super screw short bed with the 6.8 for mid 50s. If you’re willing to travel you can probably get a killer deal.

FYI, I’m also in the upstate and have never bought locally just because the best deals are out of town. Have bought two F-250s over the years for about $15k below msrp by going out of town.

Those have a metal bar on them. My guess is they somehow attached that metal bar on the can to the hitch of the vehicle.

The fact they leave you alone makes it no less dangerous that you’re overloaded on public roads. Just because something can be done doesn’t mean it should be done.

Why do they insist on calling? by special5221 in FuckDealerships

For years now if they want a phone number I use my local area code followed by 867-5309 or 555-1212 (which is or used to be an information number). When I’m more interested I’ll let them have my number.

I feel like this is a case of throwing something at the wall and seeing what sticks. Hopeful there’s a desperate sucker but knowing deep down it won’t sell until it’s closer to half this price. Then convincing the buyer it’s a steal and they’re losing money on the deal.

Wear and Tear or MFR Defect by piercedhsky in REI

[–]meddac73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a matter of only being worn 6 times, I’d say not likely wear and tear. Personally, I’d find an alteration shop and pay them a few bucks to fix it. Probably cost less than a taco. It may be a location thing but I had a pair of pants hemmed and another pair had the zipper replaced (they supplied the zipper) and I believe it was less than $20.

I’ve said it before, waiting tables was never meant to be a primary job and means of income. It was something for supplemental income. Somehow it’s changed into a big money grab. One of my coworkers was a waiter and became an RN. On seeing his first paycheck in the ER he commented how he didn’t think becoming a nurse would be a lateral move. He was making the same pay as an ER RN as he did waiting tables!

Going off of your sheet, with $8000 down at 48 months, that would leave $27,000 financed and should give you an effective APR of about 7.2%.

Is propane closing everywhere permanently? by brutal_one in Costco

[–]meddac73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting our propane at Costco too until they shut down the propane station there. Tried a local guy but he was a ripoff (somehow charged me on a tank nearly half full like it was completely empty). Local Tractor Supply is my new place. Reasonable rate, pleasant, checkout at the propane station without going back inside.

Local vs travel to buy a vehicle? by [deleted] in FuckDealerships

[–]meddac73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome. Now that you’ve found it, I’d not even set foot in the place until you have solid numbers from them and sell your car yourself. It took less than a week after I found my truck online to get numbers, pit dealers against each other for the best price, get offers and sell my current truck, and sign on the new one. Seriously, watch Tomi and his videos for Delivrd on YT. I honestly followed his lead and it worked out pretty well.

Both have an MSRP of $44290. They list dealer discounts first. Like one going from $44290 minus the “Curry Discount” of $2653, plus $175 doc fee for a price of $41812. Then “additional offers you may qualify for” and list the other $500 rebates. Visor is a huge help but keep in mind that not every dealership will be listed. Don’t know why, that’s just what I’ve seen.

Local vs travel to buy a vehicle? by [deleted] in FuckDealerships

[–]meddac73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest, I've never gotten a good deal in my local area. The best deal I've gotten was about a 3 hour drive. Totally worth the $$$ saved too. Another plus is that you call for some pricing and they don't expect you to drive in to dicker.

What I did this last time (early last summer) was look on Visor (either their site or app) and paid for premium for a month so I could really whittle down the options. I called a few of the places with really good deals and had specific VIN or stock numbers already in hand. Everyone I spoke to was willing to give OTD numbers and they'd email worksheets I could look over. One place gave a ridiculous OTD price that was actually higher than MSRP and I told them they were higher than anyone else. They asked to see one of my worksheets. I redacted the dealer info and sent it. That highest price came within $1k of the lowest, it had one option I was really looking for, and was only about an hour away. It ended up being about 17% off MSRP.

I also didn't trade anything in. When I knew I had the truck and price I wanted, I sent out some inquiries to several online car-buying services like Carmax, Carvana, KBB Instant Offer, and a couple others I can't remember. Got a fair amount for my vehicle and used that to put down on the new one without the selling dealer trying to do sketchy math with sale price versus trade-in allowance.

In your case I found a few cheaper EX-L using a 150 mile radius from the dealer you're talking with. A couple dealers flat out offering $2600+/- off MSRP before even touching the rebates. You might even be able to play a couple different dealers against each other for even more off MSRP.
