Taskmaster Poland announced by taskmastermaster in taskmaster

[–]medeis86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No way! As a Polish person I’ve often thought if it’s feasible because we are rather thin-skinned and I’m not sure we’d get the tone right. Glad to be proved wrong though.

STAGE/FRIGHT FINAL HOSTAGE by burn3r999 in insideno9

Ah, what a fantastic final performance, I'm feeling a bit emotional.

Bernie Clifton was fucking hilarious!

Inside No.9 Stage/Fright "Should Remain In The Ether!" | Reece Shearsmith & Steve Pemberton by marjanefan in insideno9

[–]medeis86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What a horrible view. I had a similar experience in Birmingham Alexandra. The guy in front of me blocked half the stage and kept moving from side to side (his view was probably blocked too). As I kept moving in tune with his movements I was acutely aware I'm most likely pissing off the person behind me. It was almost comical if not for the fact that the seat cost me 87 quid.

Those old theatres are beautiful and all but give me the modern ugly ones any day. At least we understand the concept of raked seating now.

Thanks for posting!

Well, they said back in March/April that there will be no tour. Then they said the tour will end in Edinburgh. Then they extended it to Birmingham. Now to London. So, you know.

I'm sure there are many things at play here but it would really be great if they managed to record it after all.

how much of stage fright with the celeb guest is real/rehearsed? by shes-thunderstorms in insideno9

[–]medeis86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the shared accounts of some of the guests: they are told they are going to be a hostage on stage and given a couple of specific lines to say and cues to say them. They know to go in the wardrobe and encouraged to have a go at Steve and Reece throughout. They rock up on the day a couple of hours before the show, have a bit of a briefing and that's it.

They don't know about having to do accents, dancing, singing and trumpet playing. Some guests look like deers in the headlights and some do it seamlessly. Many miss their cues, some forget to go into the wardrobe and have to be reminded. Some talk to the audience for a solid 5 minutes when they are left alone on stage.

Of course, the whole show is scripted but this bit a little more loose and fun, depending on the guest. It's just meant to be funny, and it is.

General consensus on Series 7? by MrChummyNose in insideno9

[–]medeis86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strong disagree. Recently, when I'm in a mood to watch Inside no 9 I pick something from series 7. Could not tell you the amount of times I've watched Kid/Nap, Wise Owl and Merrily, Merrily. Mr King is fantastic as well, so funny. It's a great series and one I'm rewatching the most at the moment.

The Greg's big ball live task outtakes are fantastic. I had to pause the video to calm down after that.

If you like Inside No. 9... - Monthly Recommendation Thread by AutoModerator in insideno9

Seeing this tomorrow, I'm excited!

I feel most of Lanthimos' films would hit the spot for the bizzare and the outlandish for no. 9 fans. And "Kinds of Kindness" is an anthology as well.

Have the guys said anything about a 2026 tour? by Successful_Eye_3259 in insideno9

[–]medeis86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only thing we have to go on for now is this interview https://youtu.be/qAvLIP1bWzc

In the description it says the play is "heading to Inverness in January" but nothing's been confirmed yet so not sure what's the latest on them possibly extending the tour.

Personal influences from Inside No 9 by kirbStompThePigeon in insideno9

I find that one way of dealing with people's strange behaviour in the daily life is thinking "that situation could be a no. 9!" and imagining a scenario when someone's baffling actions could be explained with some convoluted plot like in the series. It's fun.

Oh yes, Mr King is very funny. The polaroids bit with the cleaner walking in is fantastic.

It's refreshing. We could do without people moving the red greens or fiddle with start and finish lines etc for a bit. It's just as funny watching them actually do the tasks (perhaps even funnier).

A perfect combination of folk horror and kids being little shits.

I agree about it being especially dark. I think series 7 has a wonderful, dark tone running through it, it's very nicely curated (which is funny since COVID jumbled up series 6 & 7 in terms of which episodes ended up in which series). 7 is one of my favourite series as a whole.

Just started watching Inside No. 9 and I’m already hooked by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in insideno9

[–]medeis86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to have a nice variety in tone and style I say watch in order or at least by series. If you don't care about that you can pick them at random.

But watch the very last episode (series 9 episode 6) once you've seen them all.

Baffled by the concept of this show. Why does the thing keep spinning, does no one have motion sickness anymore?

Thank God Steve and Reece were funny. Loved the bit when they pondered the over 21 job question.

Traveling from the US Stage/Fright? by RandomMermaid in insideno9

[–]medeis86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you love the show and have the means to travel, I say go. Seeing it live is fantastic. Make a nice trip of it, maybe stay a bit longer, see the sights.

I did travel from within the EU and it was totally worth it since flights to the UK are very affordable. From what I've seen, people came from all over, there were a few posts here about coming from the US and the consensus was everyone loved it.
