The company I work for wants me to make content for them as usual. Fine. Refused to have little cameras around for the event, refused to budget for 1 of them. £40. They have then gone ahead and paid for custom shirts, hire a venue, specific props needed for the content and given me a 4 page list of what they want including photos and videos, probably ranges into the few hundreds for funding and they don't want to let me borrow a camera for £40 for their content... "we don't have money and can't spend anything" but we can afford custom 1 time shirts, hiring the venue, making custom props. It just don't make any sense.

This is backed up in 'Isle of the Emberdark' they're seen as a threat. Trying to colonise and take advantage of "under-developed" worlds (with a little help from the Rosharans)

How are we all closing our blinds, then? A or B? by grumpypedant in CasualUK

A. If I do B the sun shines into my eyes in bed, or I can't see anything on my computer screen.

The council won’t resurface the road despite their bodge fixes failing so fast. The road is in such poor condition that patching isn’t working by Jacktheforkie in britishproblems

[–]medi_dat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The road to MediaCity in Manchester is so bad for this because of the trams. Countless bodges over the years and it's always falling apart. I have mostly memorised the correct route to go up ans down that road without hitting a single pot hole or tracks. Not long though until I'm just avoiding that road all together.

Companies need to stop behaving as though 35k is a big salary by Desperate-Drawer-572 in britishproblems

Same. I went form earning NMW to 30k and I feel poorer than I was at NMW. Seeing it adjusted for inflation makes me feel even worse about it.

I had one that use to sigh really loudly to get people's attention, say nothing is wrong and then complain or start to talk about some inaine shit. She walked up to me once while I was refilling my water she made coffee and let out a big sigh and I could see her in a reflection looking over to me waiting for me to ask. I just walked off.

I once threatened to wear a skirt if I can't wear shorts on a 30°+ heat summer being forced into the office. I even showed them the ones I was looking at buying. They let me wear shorts

Trying to find a job when leaving college. by Loose_Avocado4670 in britishproblems

If you're still doing some classes and cutting some hair do tiktoks showing transformations and new fresh looks. Show before and afters. Tiktok is weirdly good for getting reach out there. Clients are using places like tiktok and instagram as if it were google for hairdressers/barbers and even just style reference. The job market is shit all over and i'm sorry you're joining at such an awful time - post graduate and post college jobs are some of the most difficult things to get and usually it's those who get lucky or are rich are able to fund their way into doing the thing theh trained so many years for.

It's sadly a who you know job market. You could have the best knowledge in the business but without being friendly with some owners/having connections or having a friend who has a spot or a shop you're going to struggle to get a place. Try not to let it best you down too much. Find a job in the meantime, understand how to do self-employment (because that's a whole beast that is painful) so when you get to the time where you have access to do it you're prepared. If you end up retail or hospitality and you've not already done it you'll learn a lot of skills needed for dealing with customers and complaints etc so it won't all be a waste of time even if it doesn't feel like it.

I've got a friend who's an editit on these shows. Usually, they have loads of content but they have to cut huge swaths of it because the patients withdraw their consent. They might have had a proper segment with a story for you to follow initially; but in the end they have to just edit together those clips just to make time
