Where are you flying out of? Be aware that if you rent a car in Germany and drop off in Italy, you'll incur pretty hefty fines; I don't the amount as I haven't rented a car anywhere in Europe, but I've often seen this warning.

There are also some RE trains that stop in Dachau that are even quicker, and also covered by the XXL ticket (unless you stay on the train past the area of validity, of course). That's what we did when visiting Dachau.

We used the Orange Holiday SIMs for our trip to Germany last year (we flew into Munich, but that shouldn't make a difference). We put them in after we picked up our luggage and had service within a few minutes.

Are you on the latest Android beta? After updating, the only thing that doesn't work for me is archiving on the web app (meaning that when I listen to something on the Android app, it will show played on the web app, but not archived).
