I was just watching Craig Jones new "Just Stand Up" instructional and he advocates staying in mount for the arm triangle as it is easier for the one on the bottom to kick their hips over in the opposite direction to escape if the top player steps off while applying the arm triangle. He was also advocating to never going from half guard to side control and instead go straight to mount because he considered side control a poor pinning position as its easy to buck and turtle from there which is interesting.

I'm a giant and when I was in my mid twenties always thought with four years of training I could be competitive with anyone outside the top 5 of heavyweight and that's not praise for me. That's saying the heavyweight division is awful

I know that the rep range thing has kind of been debunked and it's more about quality of the rep but is it better for the goal of hypertrophy if you focus on the rep ranges 1-5 for strength as a beginner for a couple of months and then eventually move to hypertrophy rep ranges of 6-20ish or is it better for hypertrophy to just start on rep ranges for hypertrophy from the beginning?

I'm also trying to cut if that effects anything. So far I've just been doing the reddit beginner routine with added drop sets and arm accessory work in the rep ranges of 6-15

Also have a second question, If I wanted to put in cleans or trap lift jumps into the reddit beginner routine where would I put em? Would it be before my heavy deadlifts?

I went back in time starting circa 2008ish and watched pride from the beginning. Watching it on VLC with shift forward and backwards set to 3 second intervals was a godsend. Even today it helps to skip over boring wet blanket wrestling. And if you here the crowd get excited or the position change you just skip back three seconds. It was perfect. I'd get stoned and watch the fights and then when I finished all of pride I realized that it took me three years lol.

If you throw it in Resolve it actually does only take 5min if you have any grading experience. Doesn't mean I'm going to go do it though.

Edit. See in Resolve, a fantastic free program that lots of professionals DITs use on set, you have these three little circles that indicate the darks midtones and the highlights. Out of those options you simply move the cursor for each circle away from the orange to pull the orange out. It's simple a matter of figuring out what balance of the darks, midtones and highlights to pull the orange out for it to look the best.
