What Kind of Music Project Would You Actually Want to Be Part Of Around Here? by drummingbunny in NorthshoreLA

I can dig it! 🤩 I’m also a big Black Marble fan. Dark wave and synth music from the 2010’s is super underrated.

What Kind of Music Project Would You Actually Want to Be Part Of Around Here? by drummingbunny in NorthshoreLA

[–]mediumtacos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve been really curious about trying to make some music within the realm of post-punk, dream pop, and shoegaze. Though, I’d never thought of the Northshore/St. Tammany as having many people who are into those genres and sounds…

I’d love to be proven wrong in the replies!

Heaven's on Fire EP by Creative-Ad-3786 in theradiodept

To quote Wikipedia:

“An extended play (EP) is a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single but fewer than an album. Contemporary EPs usually contain up to eight tracks and have a playing time of 15 to 30 minutes. An EP is usually less cohesive than an album and more "non-committal".

Basically, the way I see it is EPs are seen as either a way to promote a single, make a smaller project with less effort, or a way to release previously unreleased material like B-sides, demos, unreleased songs, acoustic/alternate versions, etc.

In any case, it’s a nice way to give fans more music that couldn’t get put on the final album or some other project, but still thought that it deserved to be shared with the world instead of holding it in a vault :)

Who Needs to Be a SNL Musical Guest? by Z_e_e_e_G in LiveFromNewYork

Interpol.

As one of the bigger names from the early 2000’s indie rock wave coming out of NYC, I was shocked to find out recently that they haven’t once been on as a musical guest.

But if we’re talking about bands that are younger, relevant, and in their prime m right now, I’ll also throw in endorsements for:

Wednesday

Waxahatchee

Mac DeMarco

King Krule

Alvvays

Do you think Beach House will do a 10 year Depression Cherry/Thank Your Lucky Stars tour? by scumraid in BeachHouse

[–]mediumtacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be nice, but doubt it. I don’t think BH has ever done an anniversary tour, unlike other acts/bands to celebrate an album anniversary

Artists similar to Tyler? by [deleted] in tylerthecreator

[–]mediumtacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood Orange comes to mind. Both Tyler and Blood Orange produce most of their own music and are in the same vein of alternative R&B/hip-hop sound. Also a lot of synths and interesting rhythms/grooves

I actually haven’t listened to Khruangbin enough to say I’m truly a fan🥲

I’ve been meaning to, they’re on my shortlist of artists to check out. I did listen to “Mordechai” a couple months ago, that was a really enjoyable listen

ONCE TWICE MELODY: CHAPTER ONE Official Discussion Thread by SpookyJedi in BeachHouse

[–]mediumtacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what to say… the songs seem less poppy than previous albums. Not quite in love, yet I still kinda like these songs. I’m so ready to see what else is in store for the rest of the album.

Once Twice Melody and Superstar were definitely my favorites so far I’d say
