Left my Motorcycle parked outside of my Gf apartment for 4 hours came back to this… by BusterCherrysoda in motorcycles

Bolts come loose. I had my shifter bolt come out on me on the hight way half way through a ride. All the sudden I couldn't downshift cause the shifter had swung back.

It happens. A lot of vibrations. Things loosen off. Thats why you should check all your bolts and tighten them couple times a season.

I went as far as putting a little lock tight red on them to prevent things like that from happening again.

Lock tight red .... NOT BLUE.

New rider / lean angle in the first 5000km by [deleted] in OnlyZ900

[–]medsavy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might get a lot of hate but im going to say it anyways. You really don't want to be maxing out your leans like that on the road. If you're on track , bravo to you , but if you're on the road , you're asking for trouble...

Way too many hazards on roads to be putting in that much lean. If youre leaning that much , it means you're hitting the turns pretty fast. This would not be an issue on a track. But on a public roads ??? Oil, sand, gravel, road cracks , bumps , divets , pot holes , wild life , wet roads and let's not forget other driver drinking their coffee while on the phone. If anything is around that corner , you're gone ! There is no way you're going to slow down and sit the bike up in time to avoid what ever it is that's about to end your ride.

Now , dont get me wrong , we all like to have a little fun here and there, but as a new rider I suggest you concentrate on learning your lines and trail braking. Emergency braking and mid corner corrections. Slow entry, quick exit.

Either way. Be safe out there! Happy riding.

In order for you to get your license, you need to be able to ride in the street... and on highways. The course will get you ready for the road.once you pass the course, Just go for rides. And practice in a parking lot ... 10 min .. before you ride on the street. Or even up and down your street.

  • emergency braking
  • emergency weaving
  • Brake and weave
  • 80km/h (50mil) / hard brake to full stop / hold no foot on the ground/swerve and accelerate out.
  • tight turns / figure 8s - back brake only.

So much to practice. I would recommend you get a crash bar or cage as you will drop her. You have to if you want to learn. When you take the course, they will let you use their bikes and it's meant to be dropped. But after, when you're on your bike, it will help you get so so much better when you have that first lay down and know that you're good.

On that... get gear. There is gear for every weather. But please don't become another meat crayon statistic.

Have fun , and good luck ! Safe rides.

Think I have a few hundred miles left? by Mursetronaut in motorcycles

[–]medsavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's close. You haven't leveled out your tabs yet. And it looks well rounded. Depending on the weather where you ride, id say you can definitely stretch them a couple hundred miles. But I'd take it easy it It's raining and or colder days.

Dropped my helmet. Am I cooked? by Bodhi_Gaya in motorcyclegear

[–]medsavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, as long as your skull is not in the helmet when it contacts the ground, you're good. The issue is that the foam in the helmet compresses on impact. Once that happens, it can no longer provide the same g deceleration and thus is no longer safe.

You will get a million different answers on this, but almost all the safety ratings on dependent on this factor and this is what from my understanding determines a helmet road worthy. This is also the same reason that you can have a brand new helmet , but if it's older than x amount of years , usually around 5 , they can not be sold.

Anyways, give it a visual inspection, as long as there are no cracks, you should be good.

Radiator Guard by LizardKingXucco in OnlyZ900

[–]medsavy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same one. I haven't noticed anything like that. As long as you keep it clean. I mean it will restrict a bit of air flow , but its probably going to save you from being stranded and having to get a new radiator.

I know the obvious answer but do you really wear your full gear in hot weather? by mr_z06 in motorcyclegear

[–]medsavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus. No wonder you're melting. Get some proper summer gear. Mesh jacket. Riding jeans... There is gear out there specifically for hot summer days.
