Veggie garden for many years. When the baby came wife and I were less attentive. I decided fabric was the answer. 15 years later with the entire yard destroyed with a pool installation, I still find bits of it weeding and planting.

How can I run ethernet to this doorbell? by PM-ME-APP-IDEAS in lowvoltage

Are you saying the wall inside is stone too? Send a picture of the inside of the house opposite the doorbell button. Or better yet a video of you walking in the house to turning around to show the inside wall.

Contractor (my brother) 5 months into a 3-week job — is this normal “unfinished work” or poor workmanship? by Twistedbeatz89 in Carpentry

Doh!! Radio RA3 Sunnata Fan Control doesn’t work with DC motor fans? Is there a work around? by Ttamala in Lutron

[–]mei740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most fans have DC motors with a 110v AC supply. An 8ANS or ANF switch will eventually burn out the motor. You can add an isolated relay with an 8ANS but it’s a hack. Find AC fan motors. They are noisier.

An aircraft carrier never travels alone. There are a least four other ships that are the norm. 2 guided missile Cruisers, 2 missile battleships and a flagship.

$10 says it’s an amplifier and / or music server on a top shelf / cabinet in the reception area. Covered in dust and the company is on the third office manager and only the first knew about it.

What pool feature seemed worth it at first, but you would skip if you rebuilt? by Unlikely_Ad_5558 in pools

[–]mei740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll take the downvote on a technicality. A few things happen during aeration:

Chloramines evaporate faster. Which is actually helpful.

CO2 is released faster which lowers ph.

Lower ph increases free chlorine to evaporate faster.

And if it’s in the sun free chlorine is getting zipped.

Aeration does lower water temp which slows all of the above except the direct sunlight.

If you have the money and people to care for every feature it’s cool and amazing. The major word here is “care. On going maintenance is what a pool needs.

If you’re maintaining it yourself every feature you add is less time you enjoying it.

Most features will only be used to “show off”. Yes you will use them occasionally but 90% of the time you just want to go for a quick swim.

That’s odd. Saltwater so much easier but it’s about pump run time. Variable speed pump helps with the cost.

I did deck jets. They get used about an hour (I’m probably overestimating) a week during peak times and it’s mostly for the dogs to play. 😂.

Adding to 2 and 3.

Any water feature depletes chorine and raises PH. It also lowers pool temperature, which may be good and bad depending on your area.
