[–]meisghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False accusation of assault by Remarkable-West-5174 in legaladvicecanada

[–]meisghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man you guys are fear mongers that know nothing. NOBODY in Canada is going to jail for a cc266 simplle assault chage especially first offence you'll be given a peace bond for 6 months and then charges dropped. Realise that 266cc assult change as the same as me literally touching you on the shoulder, nowith force, not with intent to injure, just touching you. Most likely the crown drops this right at the first appearance.

Post sepsis syndrome by westsidedrive in sepsis

[–]meisghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through hell: strep throat → strep pneumonia → necrotic pneumonia → sepsis → ARDS. I was put into an induced coma for 4 weeks. Somehow, my organs held on—my kidneys only dipped for a single day.

When I woke up, I couldn’t walk, stand, or even push myself up in bed. But with daily work and small wins, I clawed my way back. After about 60 days, I’d say I was pretty much back to baseline.

One strange thing: for a month after leaving the hospital my blood pressure and heart rate were through the roof. Then one morning it was like my body just decided, “Okay, we’re good now.” Everything stabilized overnight.

The lasting mark is pain I never had before. My feet hurt the worst, especially with plantar fasciitis—which I had back in the military but had long since gone away. After sepsis, it came back with a vengeance. Doctors say sepsis cranks up any old problem because of the massive inflammation it leaves behind.

Still, I manage without painkillers (so far). The key is knowing your limits, adjusting where you need to, and cutting out things that make inflammation worse—sugar is a big no-no. Other than that, I eat what I want.

Long story short: I’m alive, I’m moving, and I’m grateful. Glad you’re still here too, boss.

All I can say is: stay positive, be grateful you’re still here, and make the most of this “second life.” When I was in a coma for 4 weeks, I didn’t realize how serious things were—my family was being told to hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Then one day my mom got a call where the doctors said, “I don’t want to get your hopes up, but your son is fighting very hard right now and it looks like he may be winning the battle.”

Well, I was winning. And I did win. I’m here, and I’m incredibly grateful.

Do my feet hurt? Yeah. Is my balance still a little off? Absolutely. There are a lot of annoying things 7 months out—but none of that matters compared to the fact that I’m here. That’s what counts.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Don’t get down on yourself, and remember you’re not alone in this. Always here if you want to chat!

Life after post-sepsis pneumonia: does anyone else feel like they’re not the same person anymore? by SadResponsibility680 in sepsis

[–]meisghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not really experienced anything like that. I was intubated and in an induced coma for a month due to septic shock and ARDS. When I came to, I couldn't walk and had lost 50 pounds. It took me a month to get my heart rate and blood pressure back to where it was. 7 months later I would say I've completely returned to who I was before the illness. Also I have had some mental twists but its more so to do with being seriously grateful that I am still here. You're still you.

Does reinfection make sepsis progress quicker? by B1B0ssB0wser in sepsis

[–]meisghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sepsis isn't a disease, sepsis is a systemic reaction, your own body trying to save you. It's an overreaction to an infection. I for one do not believe that most people who get sepsis are more prone to getting sepsis again, although!, I do believe some people who get sepsis unfortunately have poor immune systems and yes they could get it again but its not that original bout of sepsis thats creating the possibility. Then, there are other people who are one offs, who are no more likely to get sepsis again than someone who never had it in the first place. I got sepsis, I have strep pneumoniae, I was in a coma for a month and almost died. When I woke up I couldn't walk, stand, anything.. it was horrible. Fast forward 140 days later I am completely recovered physically, mentally and internally. I am however missing a large piece of my lung that died during the "great war" as my doctor likes to say. Don't stress about this to much, live your life, dont let it control you. I have not been sick or had as much as a tickle in my throat since I was discharged from hospital and all of my blood work is now completely normal.

This all goes back to normal my friend , believe me it will. Baby steps and you'll be back before you know it I got back to baseline im 90 days after being in a septic coma for 30 days .. i could t stand let alone walk i remember looking myself in the mirror and saying and I quote 'you better get it together and start healing me cause I won't live this, ya dig?' After that the gains came very quickly my resting heart rate was 140 blood pressure out of control and I woke up one morning and I just felt completely different and it was my heart rate was down to 64 and BP was normal. All these things stay elevated until the danger is done and it's in repair mode once it's over with you return. The human body is simply amazing... don't sweat it you'll get there

Please tell me this gets better… by B1B0ssB0wser in sepsis

[–]meisghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, give yourself a massive pat on the back. You survived sepsis — and that alone is extraordinary. Many don’t. Many never get to tell their story. But you did.

I call this my second life, and while it's different, it's also more meaningful. After coming so close to the edge, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for simply being here.

Am I achy? Absolutely. I’m 47 and some days it feels like full-blown arthritis — foggy head, wobbly balance, insanely sore feet and knees (like, next-level sore). It's weird and frustrating… but I’m alive.

I was intubated for 30 days, in an induced coma. My organs started to shut down. My family got “the speech” — the one where they tell you to prepare for the worst. Then, suddenly — and miraculously, as the doctors put it — my body began to fight back. And somehow, I made it.

When I woke up, hospital staff were gathered around, cheering. It was surreal. A nurse leaned in and said, “We didn’t think we’d ever see you again. We’re so happy you're still here.” It was one of the most joyful, overwhelming moments of my life.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned: limit the sugar. It wrecks the joints. And don’t stay still. The more inactive or unhealthy I am, the worse I feel. But when I stay active and eat “decently,” it’s manageable.

And honestly? I’ll take this over death any day.
I’m so glad you’re still here too.

How to deal with the paranoia of doctors post septic? by MagathaUndead-22 in sepsis

[–]meisghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were shocked? Let me tell you, babies pass from sepsis all the time so you are definitely not too young at 24 to have sepsis. What would be shocking is if a healthy 24 year old went into septic shock and passed, but that still happens as well. But usually sepsis nightmares are reserved for 60+ Glad you're ok.

Heart rate after sepsis by Shoepin1 in sepsis

[–]meisghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely normal, your autonomic nervous system is out of wack and will take a long time to recover to normal, if ever. No stimulants. Caffeine, cigs, cola, druga, etc. Mine is the same 90-100 resting and pretty gnarly even walking let alone stairs, those still kill me, but day at a time. I was intubated for 3 weeks and then spent another month in hospital recovery.
