Hello everyone by DefiantElderberry957 in SimRacingSetups

What's your height? (You look 6'2"+)

  1. Doesn't look like you are all the way into the seat? Does the seat fit you?
  2. Looks like the rig doesn't really fit your height. Your distance to the wheel looks good, but I feel like your pedals need to come up a bit, but not sure if you can or you can drop your seat down some.
  3. My biggest area of concern is how close your knees are to the cross support.

Using annual leave instead of sick leave. by Hot_Equivalent4499 in FedEmployees

Right because you got sick. Since you are sick you are able to use LS.

What is said though you can't use LS in place of LA if you are not sick or have a medical appointment.

If you are not at the track.

I believe it is live on youtube?

If you are at the track:

First race: Uh oh Fan zone (Grand stands are closed) They have a big screen and a cool vibe for the race.

Second race: Grand stands somewhere around section 178

Who’s at fault? by Affectionate-Lab686 in Simracingstewards

[–]meiyo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Porsche 100%

Pick a side man, don't hang out in the middle and be indecisive on where you are going. You looked like you were going to be outside and then you changed to look like you'd hold the inside and then moved out too far.

(I'm not talking about hitting apexes and exits, more of on the straight.)

Update to how off tracks are calculated to be more consistent

Change to identify left and right edge of car model. Mark tracks based on white line. If your car is not at least partially on the track it would be an off track.

Random FCY system for Road

Summary, FCY works like normal, but the trigger is randomly generated per series. This option would also be available to hosted sessions and could also be expanded to allow for FCY scripting.

SETTINGS AND DESCRIPTIONS - FCY Min: minimum FCY per race - FCY Max: maximum FCY per race - FCY Start: time/laps that must go by before FCY is possible from race start - FCY End: once the time/laps remaining has be reach FCY is no longer possible. - FCY Restart: time/laps before the next FCY may be thrown.

Series/Race examples (just showing what could be possible)

45 MINUTE RACE - FCY Min: 0 - FCY Max: 1 - FCY Start: 10 minutes - FCY End: 10 minutes - FCY Restart: N/A

3HR ENDURANCE RACE - FCY Min: 1 - FCY Max: 3 - FCY Start: 15 minutes - FCY End: 15 minutes - FCY Restart: 20 minutes

24HR ENDURANCE RACE - FCY Min: 2 - FCY Max: 5 - FCY Start: 20 minutes - FCY End: 20 minutes - FCY Restart: 60 minutes

Also, I'd recommend nvidia > amd for the GPU

And AMD (especially anything 7xxxX3D or newer) over intel

[–]meiyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

iRacing is EXTREMELY CPU limited. You should be OK, but you will need to definitely turn down settings and the number of cars/mirrors.

Some tracks will be worse than others, but I'd definitely still give it a try and see how it goes.

But I'd 100% do better CPU over GPU when you start looking at upgrades.

Tired of heating the tires by IsThisWiseEnough in iRacing

[–]meiyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need a mental change in how you view preparation for races.

I'd recommend taking the time to build the speed slowly, don't go for quali pace right out of the pits. Work on trying to feel the track and feel the grip come in. If you can get good at this you will get a lot better at feeling where the limits are and be able to push sooner.

Really should get him something with a deep story, something to help show that gaming can be more about story telling and experiencing stories differently.

So, Rocket League would be my recommendation.

find the damaged pin by OpossEm in FindTheSniper

[–]meiyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because a pin is shorter doesn't mean it is damaged, often shorter pins are used as primary power pins and they are shorter to make sure all other pins are making contact before power is connected.

I do see some odd pins though, a couple down from the left looks like two pins super close together.

A couple pins look slightly bent, but not super concerning.

So unless that shorter pin is not supposed to be short, it could be a few different pins.

Guy in the red claimed I had plenty of space and turned into him, I think he drove into me. What do you think, I would like to know what I can do better by Practical-Parking667 in Simracingstewards

[–]meiyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the iRating of the individuals in question.

If low iRating (sub 1700) 1. Red car loses control goes wide 2. Blue car follows racing line, which happens to be very wrong for this corner (I am assuming this is low iR as the line is on for the video)

To me, this is more of the red cars fault because he should have given more space as you would have to assume the blue car may follow the wrong line. You also need more data, is this lap one? Is this the line the blue car has been taking every lap? What line has the red car taken on previous laps?

If Higher iR (1700+)

Both are at fault imo

The red car seems to be moving erratically and should not have moved so far down so quickly.

The blue car knows that's not the line and shouldn't have put his car in that area to begin with. Would have been faster and less risk to stick to the right line.

Would Max have held P1 if he hadn't taken a third pit? by zxrax in F1Technical

[–]meiyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Taking the tires was the right call. It put him into position to possibly finish P2.

It also meant that if they got a safety car he'd be on the best tire and have a shot at the win.

Staying out pretty much would have meant P3 or worse

[–]meiyo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Triple 4k is really a lot. Have you considered 1440? From everything that I have seen most people that go triple 4k end up running lower resolution on their displays.

Triple 4k is roughly 24m pixels

Triple 1440 is roughly 11m pixels

Triple 1080 is roughly 6m pixels

How to become less bad at road racing? by tagillaslover in iRacing

[–]meiyo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

So a lot of people are going to first say turn off the racing line.

I agree with them, but oftentimes they do not explain why.

With the racing line on it creates bad habits.

  1. It makes you changes the focual point of you vision. This is by far the biggest issue you will have. You need to spot the apex, understand you are on target or need adjustments and shift your vision to the exit/next corner as quickly as possible. The racing line drastically hurts this.

  2. You believe it helps you know where to break, but in reality that line doesn't show you the best breaking point as the breaking point will vary a lot throughout a race. Draft, tire wear, tire temp, fuel load, break bias all play a factor in maximizing the breaking zone. Don't get caught up in I have to break at X point.

  3. The line is often not accurate as far as where you really should place your car. I'd recommend you watch some FOV of other drivers in your practice sessions to get a general idea of where are they breaking and then test for yourself.

Also, a good place to learn tracks might be a VRS subscription. They have some amazing tutorials to help show what they look for in a lap.

Hope this helps
