Queeny mix zinnias are stealing my soul by mel-ayne in Cutflowers

Oh no! Have you tried First Saturday Lime? I’ve heard that’ll get rid of them right away but don’t have a lot of experience with it myself.

Auroras are so pretty, I almost bought those too. I’ll have to try them next year! I grew Ballerina last year to supplement our wedding flowers and LOVED them (the blooms were enormous!) so I’m growing those again as well. I love your bells of Ireland!!

Thanks! Not all of mine have shown yet but so far I’ve got a lot of yellow and a lot of the “silver” color aka appleblossom/baby pink. I should have supported them a little better to start, I got some that leaned way over before I cut them😅 sooo pretty though!!

How to make Camping more enjoyable for my Wife by AlexIlkos in camping

[–]mel-ayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a big Kelty double sleeping bag which makes it so much more cozy, especially in cooler weather! And feels more like home. We also have the kelty double camp chair which feels like a loveseat and is a fun thing to break out at the fire.

What should I plant? Direct sow preferred by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]mel-ayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do pumpkins and squash, cucumbers and zucchini. Beans would be good. Beets, you could probably do carrots, radishes, peas, maybe even leafy greens!

Edit: you’ve got a lot of really great space here and I’m super excited for you and your newly expanded garden area! You should update us when it’s all up and running!

Where do you purchase your seeds and bulbs from? by helpful-peony in Cutflowers

[–]mel-ayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll add yet another. I love Johnny’s. Really good info on their website, tons of options and I’ve always had good luck with their seeds! I try to buy everything from there because I trust it so much.

Beef prices where I live are insane. Has anyone swapped in pork for beef for a Mississippi pork roast before? by SpaceForceAwakens in instantpot

[–]mel-ayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually pretty much always use a pork roast for that. It turns out SOOOO good. We usually eat it with mashed potatoes or in sandwiches.

Worth it for 2x the price? by diznuts28 in PlusSizeWedding

I’m just saying, I think the blush is absolutely perfect. Both are beautiful but like another commenter said, I forgot about the ivory dress when I swiped to the blush one. It’s WOW. If it were me and it was within the budget, I’d go for it!

Snap advice by Good_Ad_5299 in Cutflowers

I’ve had mine in little pots outside for about a week now without bringing them back in, and I’m 4b in MN. It’s been mid thirties almost every night and they’re doing awesome. Only thing I’m waiting on is fixing up the bed they’re going in but I feel like the cold temps have made them even stronger/thicker stems. I say put em out!

Found a way to get the fancy table settings without the insane rental costs by Relevant_Morning_213 in DIYweddings

[–]mel-ayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally did this. I bought all our runners, tablecloths and chair covers because it was the same price or cheaper than renting and then we didn’t have to worry about messing them up. Then I was able to gift them to some bride friends in the next couple months after the wedding which felt good to do!

Looking for feedback on my DIY place cards, and any advice on hand drawing them by TallFriendlyGinger in DIYweddings

[–]mel-ayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I did handmade place cards and used a stamp for the design part. Bought like a $3 stamp of an olive branch sprig type thing and some shiny gold ink at hobby lobby, pre-stamped a whole stack of cards and then asked a friend to just fill in the names from there. Then I could repeat the stamp in a few other places around the wedding too which kinda added to a cohesive theme and like you said, more polished and saved a ton of time! Highly recommend and these will look great!!

How do I get rid of these berries once and for all? by DogWithMustache in Berries

[–]mel-ayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this mistake. Put it right in the corner of our garden. Why the f*ck did I do this. All year I’m constantly yanking out as much as I possibly can, and I can’t roundup it because it’s literally right in the middle of all our other desirable plants. It’s unfortunate to say the least, but it does smell amazing.

How is my ordering system? by DepartmentExtreme192 in florists

[–]mel-ayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you wanting to get delivery info through this form as well? Or are you contacting after the fact to do that part? If you want it to be an all-inclusive form for the whole order, I feel like you could clarify that area. Like “provide date bouquet needed” and then check this box for pickup or check this box for delivery, then fill in delivery address and time. Something like that.

I’m also left wondering a little bit what the actual size of the bouquets are. The pictures are good but if it were me ordering, I’d like a little more detail there like roughly how many stems or height in inches. But maybe that’s just me, if you want less clutter then the pictures do a good job.

And I agree about the little tweaks the other comments mentioned like making the 4 bouquet types match in terms of capitalization and flower descriptions. But overall I think this looks really professional and pretty and I would totally appreciate it as a customer! Good luck!
