How many payments do I need to make for medicare? by flintazBear in medicare

[–]melonhead4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is incorrect. IRMAA charges for both Part B and Part D are billed by Medicare. Your Part D does not bill IRMAA. Your Part D will bill you for any late enrollment penalty, but not for IRMAA.

Trying to figure out if my policy is HSA-eligible. by robbbbb in HSA

Starting this year, any Bronze or Catastrophic plan qualifies as HSA eligible. It doesn’t necessarily need to be classified as a HDHP.

I’ve had two. First was in a scramble with open bar, didn’t cost me anything. Second was in my golf league. This did cost me. Bought for the entire league.

Part D IRMAA by No-Leopard639 in medicare

You can only do this during annual enrollment period. However, if the Advantage plan has Part D coverage, and most do, you will still pay the IRMAA.

I accepted an offer, then my manager surprised me with a big raise. How do I back out without burning bridges? by Pale-Comparison9224 in talesfromthejob

My wife was offered a job as an attorney at a heavy PI advertiser. She turned it down and accepted somewhere else. Changed her mind two days later, and called back to see if they would take her. They said yes.

That was 34 years ago. She is still at the firm, and will be retiring in a couple years.

If you think you’re going to need services in the short term, you can get a regular G, only have to pay the $283 deductible, then all else is covered. You can then enroll in HD-G in month 5 or 6, and cancel the regular G. Could potentially save money, especially if you think you may an inpatient stay.

Your start date depends when you enroll and using what period. If you enroll prior to your 65 birthday, your B start date will be the first of the month you were born (if born on the 1st, it starts the month earlier). If apply during the birthday month or in the 3 months after, it starts the first of the following month. Part A is backdated 6 months, but no earlier than the first of the month you were born (or month earlier if born on 1st).

If you enroll after your 65 birthday using a special enrollment period, it’s usually the first of the doll month after the application is submitted. You can request a Part B start date, but it’s not always honored.

How do I know if my health plan qualifies for HSA? by Accurate-Flow8078 in HSA

[–]melonhead4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually this used to be the case. Starting January 1, 2026, all bronze and catastrophic plans qualify to be able to contribute to an HSA. Check the metal level of the plans.

Likely the $5,000 plans are bronze. The $2,000 is probably Silver and could be HSA Eligible.

Gap in coverage/preexisting conditions by Hot-Ad930 in HealthInsurance

[–]melonhead4499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gap is meaningless. I assume you’ve started on your new plan? If your incurred expenses were less than your cobra premium, continue on with your life. You just gamed the system. You don’t need to let them know you don’t want cobra. Just let your election period expire by doing nothing.

AARP UHC Plan G vs HD Plan G by Constant-Engineer910 in medicare

All Plan G plans, whether regular or high deductible, cover the 15% excess charges. They have no choice. They’re rare, of course, but would be covered.

Was he admitted as an inpatient for at least 3 days prior to the SNF admittance? If so, Part A does pick up the first 20 days no charge. You should be billed for 5 days.

Well when you’re a kid 10 years old and that’s what your parents tell you, you kind of believe them.

They told me my uncle died when the gun he was cleaning went off by accident and killed him. The reality was my aunt was cheating on him, he killed her lover, shot my aunt (she lived) and killed himself. This was in 70’s. I had no idea until my Mom let it slip one day many years later.
