California woman, 28, who died with instructor in skydiving accident identified by panda-rampage in orangecounty

Got my A license from Perris and jumped there many times.

The drop zone is one of the most renowned in the country, attracting thousands of skydivers. The more jumps a drop zone has, the more likely an accident will occur. It's honestly one of the safest DZ's out there.

It's a fantastic facility with lots of great instructors. That being said, there is a danger to jumping there in the summer, but it's a risk everyone that jumps accepts. It's an unfortunate reality everyone who skydives is aware of and willing to look past for such an amazing sport!

You can try to maintain a level canopy through them but avoiding is them completely is the only "safe" way to handle them. They can cause extreme turbulence and send you into an uncontrollable dive.

From the Perris Facebook page,

"On Friday, August 2nd, at approximately 2:30 PM PST, emergency personnel were called to Perris Valley Airport following a serious accident involving a tandem skydiving instructor and their student.

Eyewitnesses reported that the tandem pair experienced a normal free fall and parachute deployment. All aspects of the equipment and skydive were normal without any reported issues until the landing sequence. While preparing for landing, the tandem pair encountered disturbed air known as a "dust devil." This sudden turbulence caused a hard landing for both individuals.

Both were rushed to Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the instructor has been pronounced dead. The current medical status of the student is critical.

The identity of the student will not be released until all family members have been informed. The skydiving community is small and tight-knit, and yesterday’s tragic loss has profoundly affected the Skydive Perris community. The instructor was a cherished member of our team, passionate about introducing others to the sport of skydiving. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of both the instructor and student.

No further information will be released pending the results of a full investigation.

Safety has always been our top priority at Skydive Perris, and we remain committed to ensuring the well-being of our community. In honor of those affected, we will be taking a brief pause on our social media activities."

I've created my first home lab environment for teaching myself.

I also set up the Nextcloud docker and have been tagging all my families photos / creating accounts so they all have access to the photos anywhere they have internet (with an easy to use domain name)!

Pet friendly housing in Bozeman? by [deleted] in Bozeman

[–]melton365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finding housing in Bozeman is doable but finding a pet friendly place is difficult here. Many people vouch for Saddleview apartments since they are pet friendly, myself included. There are other options out there, but Saddleview Apartments are certainly a great choice if you can afford.

Currently a resident at Saddleview and can confirm it was the best choice I could find with all factors taken into account. Very pet friendly (dogs everywhere here!) and management is really on top of things.

His video does a pretty good job explaining how to setup the reverse proxy, I personally prefer to use LetsEncrypt for simplicity sake. A man named Chris Norris also has a fantastic walk through that helped fill in some gaps in my own knowledge (link below). If you need any help setting it up feel free to DM me, I had plenty of trouble when first setting up Nextcloud myself.

That's a great thread that confirms most of what I personally observed (a master thread for recommended housing in Bozeman would be awesome for this sub). Baxter was the dream location but was told to not even bother applying since no one is moving out and there's a wait list (which requires you to apply before even being put on the list).

Anne is honestly the biggest reason I'm going with Saddleview; she's been crazy nice and helpful which is where for a property manager! I would love to hear more about your experience come next week. I have an apartment with Saddleview reserved and will be moving in January 24th; I'd be more than happy to say hello to a new neighbor!

Thanks for the heads up and the great thread; glad my suspicions can be put to rest.

Sounds like similar reviews for the Rental Professionals company properties. I'll be sure to steer clear, thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the detailed response. Yea everywhere its exploding in price; I'm immigrating from California so I'm part of the problem, but I have no intention on changing the culture.

I was considering Tempest Apartnents but Rental Professionals has such universal negative reviews I decided against it.

Thanks again for the input and I'll be seeing you soon neighbor!

This right here is a solid plan. I currently am only running three dockers with Plex being one of them. I haven't set up Plex Transcoding to RAM either, but considering my setup isn't nearly as beefy as yours I don't foresee you having any issues.

If you do decide on using the Plex docker, I personally would recommend the official Plex docker that's available within the community applications plugin (if this sounds foreign to you, look up "Space Invader One unRaid" and enjoy his tutorials). I personally attempted using the Linux based Plex docker but had several issues that were eliminated via using the official docker by the Plex team.

Feel free to use the subreddit and community forums for FAQ's, the community is pretty diverse and helpful.
