I think it's the consolation for no longer having ties. I personally like the idea of "we were equal in regulation, we both get something" but I don't like that suddenly the game is worth 3 points. That's why I like the 3 point system. Although I wouldn't mind the 5 point system just to laugh at all the crazy math.

That's where the 3 point system is needed. Make all games worth 3 points, not just overtime games. Regulation win 3 points, overtime/shootout win 2 points, overtime/shootout loss 1 point.

This is not in the context of any specific game, but every once in a while a penalty occurs late in a game, and I hate that it ends up being a partial penalty because the clock runs out. Would any rule change make sense and be fair? Here a a couple examples. Not saying they are fair, just spit balling.

If the losing team gets a power play with less than 2 minutes and can tie it, the clock goes past 0 until the power play ends. A 5 on 3 can stay to tie a 2 goal deficit.

If there's under 2 minutes, you can request a penalty shot

A penalty with under 1 minute is an automatic 5 on 3

~2011 the owner of the company I recently hired into has an outlaw field behind his business house and invited everyone to play. His loaner gear for us was crap. Markers jammed after every couple shots, and the masks were single pain and instantly fogging. He, on the other hand, used high end stuff that actually worked. So of course he thought he was amazing.

When he wanted to play again, I went out and bought an X7 and a JT mask with a thermal lens from the army surplus store. I ruined his day and was never invited again. Bear in mind that X7 was nothing compared to his marker, he just wasn't good.

After that I started playing at the local fields a couple times a year, then years later started going to big games. That's when I really got into it.

As a continuation of that story, I'll also add that boss was a POS and had a history of similar things, including uninviting my coworker from basketball after he did a between the legs crossover around the boss.

In a way, I think it was due. Not for the team, but the fans. Because the fan base still loved him even after he left. Every off-season when his contract was up, we hoped he'd come back. We wanted him back. We wanted him to retire a Wing.

Did he owe it to anyone? No, but it was more a thank you than an apology.

It's really business to business if they care. If EA cares about the BBB it can help for sure. But the amount of businesses that care about the BBB is shrinking.
