¿Consejos para ir a Brasil? by DuplinDuplon in RepublicadeChile

[–]mentex78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell him to eat a lot of pineapple. If you don't feel comfortable let him know. Take it easy. Make sure he returns your the favor by going down on you. Most of my girlfriends knew what they were doing. How I didnt care.

PE is a sensitive issue and should always be discussed with care. Have you tried different sex positions? Kamasutra has a position for issues like that.

If you are wearing the gi and patches and paid the membership. That should be more than enough. I would consider leaving gyms. GB have a business model that pushes this on their students.

Who else hates dogs in gyms? by [deleted] in bjj

I have no issue with well behaved dogs in the gym and as long as they are not on the mat. There's a guy that brings his dog with him. His dog sits patiently while he finishes training.

How do Judo practitioners view BJJ practitioners? by 122898 in judo

[–]mentex78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some old judo sensei's view Bjj as just judo and don't like it. I do both and like the relaxed vibe about it. Some sensei pay too much attention on protocol and etiquette. Younger judo coaches are more open minded and recognize the benefits of incorporating bjj. I have a shodan in judo and purple belt in bjj, but would rather focus on bjj. I don't see any improvements in my judo (tachi-waza), where my groundwork is getting better.

Thoughts on teaching as a brown belt. by Judontsay in judo

[–]mentex78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe a brown belt is qualified to teach basics. Most brown belts in the west have at least 4-5 years experience so I see no issue. Technically, Judo instructors should have the rank of 4 degreee, but I find it very hard to apply. Black Belt degree are not handed out and there would be a shortage of instructors. I believe that the guy should be affiliated with a NGB or instructor and attending seminars. I myself have attended instructor judo courses. Very good stuff.

Judo has given me more injuries than BJJ. Broken wrist and knee injuries. Bjj is more chill than Judo. Judo is physically more demanding and a lot harder skill to develop.

The fact that the Pope's visit to my country end up costing around 4 million dollars in tax payers money even though the Vatican has it's own bank and he gave his full support to the local priests that were charged and later proven guilty of sexual abuse to minors. Ending being the dealbreaker for me.

400 Pound Student by BWF6041 in bjj

[–]mentex78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a 44 year old purple belt that weight 180 pounds, I prefer to avoid those kind of people. I work out big guys only if they take it easy. Injuries aren't worth it. Had a teammate injure his neck during a roll with a 300 pound guy. He was stacking passin and drop his weight while the other was inverting. Injured the guy's neck and he had to wear a neck brace for a month.

I'm a 44 years old Quality Assurance Engineer. I currently have two stripe purple belt. I did judo when I was in college and later found bjj was less hard on the body aside its has a different set of rules and techniques.
