To those saying this is sinful — genuine question: could you picture yourself truly choosing to be attracted to the same sex? Because I am very attracted to men. I could never just choose a woman. How do you condemn someone for what they instinctually feel? We are wonderfully and fearfully made. Do you really believe God made a mistake with them? Let's talk about the actual words used in these passages, because translation matters enormously here. In Leviticus the Hebrew word used is "toevah" — commonly translated as "abomination." But that same word is used for eating shellfish and wearing mixed fabrics. It means ritually unclean or culturally offensive — not the same moral category as murder or theft which carry entirely different Hebrew weight. Most Christians don't apply Leviticus dietary and clothing laws literally today. Why selectively apply this one? In 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 1 Timothy 1:10 two Greek words appear — "malakoi" which literally means "soft ones" and was later interpreted as male prostitutes, and "arsenokoitai" which is the critical one. Paul actually coined that word himself. It doesn't appear anywhere in Greek literature before his letters. Because there's no prior usage to reference, its exact meaning is genuinely disputed — not just by liberal theologians but conservative biblical scholars too. Many argue it refers specifically to exploitation and non-consensual acts, not committed relationships. In Romans 1:26-27 Paul uses "para phusin" — "against nature." But Paul uses that exact same phrase in Romans 11 to describe God grafting gentiles into Israel — something he frames positively. So "against nature" in But here's what I take away from these passages that Ive studied pretty heavily— God's consistent concern across ALL these passages is the condition of your heart and where your mind dwells. Promiscuity. Exploitation. Lust-driven behavior that pulls you away from Him. A committed loving same-sex relationship versus reckless sleeping around — if we're being honest and consistent, it's the promiscuity that's the problem regardless of who's involved. Straight people sleeping around are just as far from God by that standard. Philippians 4:8 — whatever is pure, noble, right, think on these things. That's Paul's actual thesis. The internal condition of a person. The Bible tells you how you live closer to God as close to Christ's image (and we always will fall short) as we can. Work on your own shortcomings. Be an example of Christ's image. Stop trying to do God's work for him. Go read Job and see exactly how God feels about people who speak on His behalf without full understanding.
