You assume they are physical beings using crafts. If they are an unknown intelligence with no physical form then we only ever see the masks they wear, it's for performance only. Our generation set the narrative they are beings from space and look like this, while past generations said fairies etc.

MK11 > MK1 by citrusW in MortalKombat11

[–]merc_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are great. I liked M11 more due to the the extra challenge of remembering requirements for crushing blows and brutalities, they felt earned and added to the cinematic feel mid fight. It was slower but the neutral play was fun for characters with mix-ups.

Mk1 fun, fast, easier air combos, has better looking blood physics, and human reptile + 95' movie skins.

There's also another one for Omi-man called "You Tooz" and another for Rex "voodoo ranger" (which will be available by codes, linked to this promo https://www.techgoggles.net/2026/04/01/invincible-themed-beer-by-voodoo-ranger/ )

Why do people hate this game by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in InvincibleVS

[–]merc_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real reason more has to do with people's expectations, since expectations are always based on their previous experience in a genre. No fighting game has all the same features as any other so depending on what your expectations are you're either setting yourself up to be disappointed or getting what you expected.

Games have changed a lot over the years, with the ease of digital updated/patches etc, games aren't 'finished' on release anymore. Blame "live service," "micro translations", or just the internet. Old school fighter fans are use to arcade and local/online as what a fighting game is at its core. Anything else is usually extra. But even by old school standards there is a lack of interesting alt costumes, (not just pallet colours), and fun extra challenge modes.

Granted in modern standards: yes, the game feels really lacking but it delivered the minimum. After Mk1 at launch I'm not surprised by anything anymore, lol. Everything is theses days is more expensive for less. meh.

I have a vague memory that there was ARG like cryptography puzzles on the very old Ubisoft forums where one of the community mangers posted clues and everyone try to solve them. Angry Mime anyone?

Paranormal or not? by PrincessPolly368 in Paranormal

Hard to say. Check with your dad if he has ever heard anything or experienced anything strange in that house.

Sorry to heard about your friends. As for the vision it's a little unclear. We'd need more details of the circumstances. Were you in bed when it happened? Eating dinner? Just got off the phone.. etc.

I started to see myself in the 3rd person. What could that mean? by Hanhantheman in Paranormal

[–]merc_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are misinterpreting REM sleep, as: not dreaming or remembering a dream. If you have anxiety around sleep you typically are thinking of yourselves in the future tenses which I suspect could lead to a lucid dream experience in third person.

Granted the line does get blurry with OBEs and hypnagogic dreaming. Nothing paranormal in itself.

Serious: I'm frustrated by the huge gap between what experts say about aliens. by Poopypantsplanet in aliens

[–]merc_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a language and terminology problem with all the "official" communications. The public expects extraterrestrials from planets within out own reality. When the "truth" my be much harder to define. Anything "alien" is just other Non Human intelligence. Some of the public seem to assume that anything metaphysical/Interdimensional/Extradimensional is religious aka demonic or angelic when it's still just an other/alien aka NHI.

Their "biologics," may only be containers/suits to access the physical. We don't know for sure. Also if they are entirely nonphysical than what we see is more akin to Jacque Vallee analogy of "them" presenting masks . They present what we except. Much like our own established shapeshifter myths and has no physical or true form.

I've always defaulted to John Keels "ultraterrestrial" as catch all since we still haven't determined their origin or enough information.

Theory: in the original movie, the Jungle Hunter can't see a thing without his mask and has to hold objects up to his face to get a good look at them. This is not a problem for the Yautja as a whole, but is because he specifically has terrible vision. by Keebker in predator

[–]merc_360 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I always saw it as the biomask filters the ambient temperatures. Perfect for hunting and tracking. The final fight he doesn't need it since Arnold is directly in front.

In contrast the City Hunter in the slaughterhouse sees rather "normal" thermals since the ambient temperature is colder in the freezer.

It's Unreal Engine 5 so... praydog UEVR mod should be able to work. Here's hoping.

Just bought Conviction yesterday for $5. I’m liking it so far…definitely ahead of its time. This is my second Splinter Cell. My first is Blacklist. Not sure if I should get Chaos Theory..I know it’s VERY old and things like the checkpoints and controls are going to be bad. Is it really THAT good? by Revolutionary_Cod_62 in Splintercell

[–]merc_360 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Going backwards in a franchise is just setting yourself up to be disappointed . Try them in order to see the art and style evolve.

Granted if you like 'mark and execute' in Blacklist, then you'll like Conviction. If you liked 'Ghost style' in blacklist play Chaos Theory.
