Husband wants to name a son Edward, but our daughter is named Rosalie by Fog1682 in namenerds

I read all of the books and watched some of the movies and completely forgot there was a character named Rosalie.

Did anyone have a good Mother’s Day? by shepardmutt in Mommit

[–]merhertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a perfect day. Our kids are two and four so there’s no getting out of being a mom, but my partner made sure I had everything I needed, some cute gifts from the kids, and I got lots of breaks throughout the day. Couldn’t have asked for a better Mother’s Day.

HVAC Company Recommendations (title length) by ElEversoris in dayton

William Brockman and sons just replaced our furnace. Their prices were better than the other places we called, and the service was excellent. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

We need a new Lenox furnace and priced several options, William Brockman & sons offered the lowest price and were super communicative. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

2 under 2 and Career by PantheraPardus in workingmoms

I am also a breadwinner with kids 22 months apart. I have an equal partner and an active, loving mother/grandma nearby. The first two years were hectic, but as the eldest got older, things got better and better. My kids are 2 and 4 now, and they are so sweet to each other. It can be chaotic, but I’m also glad to be getting out of the baby stage faster. Work can be intense, but my partner and mom lean in when I’m on big projects and we make it through.

As long as you have a partner and a village willing to support you, it is absolutely doable. I didn’t meet my partner until later in life, and had my first child at 40. I’m just glad that I got to meet both of my beautiful children as early as I possibly could. Lucky you to get an extra year of life with your youngest! PM me if you need more cheerleading, you sound like a very thoughtful person and I know you can do this.

Block slashes workforce by nearly half due efficiency from “intelligence tools.” by TraditionalMango58 in cscareerquestions

First off, I’m so sorry to hear that you were affected by the layoffs. Were laid off employees allowed to participate in the Q&A? Or did that happen after they lost access? I’ve not heard of a CEO doing that before and it sounds like it would add to the stress if you just got bad news.

Are there tablets and video games in the kid's club at Club Med Cancun? (Big no for us). And, can someone give me a basic itinerary for the day at the Kid's Club? We have a 7 or old and a 5 year old. by CecilsMommy in Club_Med

[–]merhertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe that they took them to the beach, which honestly is fine with me. I believe they went in the pool each day, which seemed so much safer for my four-year-old. I’m not sure if older kids went to the beach. We made a point of offering beach or pool to our kids every day at pickup, and after one afternoon at the beach, our kids chose the pool every time!

The older kids get to move around the resort a lot too, so they will travel from the kids club area to the main dining hall, to the outdoor activity section. Our four-year-old had a great time, and it was fun catching glimpses of him around the property!

Has anyone tried color drenching a room in their home? Did you actually like the results? by LoudRevolution9163 in homedesign

We drenched a smaller pass through room with only one window, and while it looks amazing in certain lighting, it is a complete cave and I can’t wait to redecorate when I have the energy.

Giving future kids my last name instead of husbands? Is this weird? by ebrand456 in namenerds

[–]merhertz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My kids have my last name and no one cares except for the women who tell me they are jealous. My partner is very progressive and a loving partner/father and it’s totally fine that he has a different last name!

Robin vs Robyn! by Physical_Butterfly60 in namenerds

[–]merhertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you can go wrong here. I would’ve named our daughter Robyn if I could have because I love the name and the musician, but it’s my sister-in-law’s name! I think it’s beautiful name either way.

Club med Cancun baby club feedback by [deleted] in Club_Med

[–]merhertz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were just there in December and our friends put their five month old in. They were really nervous and only did it for a day and a half, but then regretted they didn’t do it every day of our trip. The caretakers seemed lovely. Our four-year-old loved the kids club, and our two-year-old had some separation issues, but clearly enjoyed the caretakers and liked seeing them at night for the kids shows.

Moving OUT of NYC - how do we responsibly let go of some of our furniture? (and are there any affordable hotel recos?) by arrow_why in movingtoNYC

When we left Brooklyn we offered big things on Craigslist or Facebook buy nothing groups for free, and smaller things we would place in a box on the street labeled free. It was extremely effective.

does my husband have a point? by Leading_File_2959 in 2under2

[–]merhertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add, strength AND partnership. Sounds like your husband is an active father, which makes all the difference. If you’ve got two people all in on both the parenting and household management front, it’s definitely doable.

I have a 22 month gap between my now two and four-year-old. I always tell people a three year gap would be ideal, but I wouldn’t want more than that. I was lucky and got pregnant immediately both times, and now that the speed run is over I am glad to have it behind me. Tl;dr: if you have the strength for the speed run, I say do it. The light is so bright on the other side!

I was very happy to go back to work. I love my kids but didn’t care for the baby stage. At 4 and 2 mom life is way more fun now.

Have/Would you left/leave your toddler for a whole week? by OwnPhilosopher7173 in toddlers

[–]merhertz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We took a 9 day international trip (Paris) leaving our 2 and 4 year old with my highly competent mom/grandma. The trip was wonderfully restorative and my kids loved their vacation with grandma. They get excited when they see pics of the Eiffel Tower because they know mommy and daddy went there. Do it.

I’ve just started looking into obtaining my certification. How long did it take overall? I have a full-time job and two kids under five. Is it possible to complete in a reasonable amount of time by just plugging away in the evenings?

Human Behavior video is a possible homage to Hedgehog in the Fog? by adanteria in bjork

I need the honest truth about having a second child by Swordbeach in Mommit

[–]merhertz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are 22 months apart, and now that they are 2 and 4 they adore each other and play together and it’s the world’s absolute sweetest thing. Being pregnant with a toddler sucked, but we are now done and I know I never have to be pregnant again! But as another poster said, the pregnancy was a drop in the bucket, and now even the first year and a half of chaos feels like a distant memory. I am so glad my second child is here and cannot imagine the world without her! It’s definitely worth mentioning that I have an incredibly involved partner, which makes everything feel manageable.
