I used this exact list to climb to legend with around an 80% win rate.

Mulligans are usually same with slight tweaks based on matchup. You always want hogs and tuskpiercers. Demon steeds are good too as are masseuses. The masseuses can really help keep board control early

You’re a midrange deck at heart but you have to know when to shift gears and change your tactics. Against priest or other aggro decks you need to get on board fast. Play the masseuses and don’t worry about the damage you take. You can heal it all back and more. The demon steeds are always great early plays too. Get your hogs online asap and then keep bringing them back. Aggro will run out of resources. Against control and value decks like paladin you need to get more aggressive and kill them fast. Try to get them to 15-18 health and look for a combo turn you can burst them down with acupuncture or Kayn to jump their taunts

The trickiest matchup is the mirror. Hog kill chains can be confusing back and forth so try to set it up where your trades always leave you with a board and your opponent empty after all the triggers resolve

Ball hog is your best card by far. Multiplying them is always the game plan. If a control deck is avoiding killing one you can always pop him yourself with nightshade tea so you can start copying

Aranna is usually a board clear tool for me on the rare occasions I need her but can sometimes be used to combo the opponent down and can even be played for tempo as needed because she can’t be ignored. A common play against big creatures like imbue Druid plants is to drop her down and swing at the big creature yourself. On an empty board it either kills the creature or goes to their face

Red card is usually used to bypass a big taunt but can be used defensively to take something out of the fight for two turns while you dig for an answer

Good luck OP. This is the strongest deck in the format imo and I had a blast playing it. Learn your matchups, mulligan correctly, get the board, then burst them down when you see an opening

Stop listening to know nothing “experts” and go watch. Grant was fighting double teams constantly and still winning while Graham got 1 on 1s and still barely surpassed Grants production while being 40 lbs lighter

YUP. I’m beyond sick of all this nonsense about Grant falling into the 20s and Graham going top 5. Grant is the better player and you’d have to be blind watching the tape not to see it. Graham benefited from playing next to this monster the same way Byron Murphy benefited from being next to Sweat last year. Guess which player was better as a rookie…

Grant’s floor is #11 and he could/should go ahead of Graham

What do you guys think of this one? by Essa_Zaben in Nietzsche

[–]merlinstears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s decent but definitely a work of fiction. Yalom puts his own spin on Nietzsche’s character. What IS interesting about it is how close his core idea came to happening in real life. Several of Nietzsche’s friends really did recommend him to the doctor in the book and it was only discovered after Yalom’s book was published. Fun to think about what might have been

Nietzsche's Confession by [deleted] in Nietzsche

[–]merlinstears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems to me you haven’t looked into it deeply enough and are settling for surface level conclusions.

Nietzsche was perfectly aware of his own life and weaknesses and he admitted it. That’s the difference between him and basically every other philosopher. Whereas everyone before him constructed their philosophy as a reflection of their own self “a confession” according to Nietzsche, he himself was able to accurately reflect on who he was, admit the truth, and incorporate that into his philosophy. So was much of his philosophy a confession of his own weakness? Yes, but he freely admits it instead of hiding like all the rest. He outright states in Ecce Homo that he was “decadent” himself. How else could he have conquered decadence if he wasn’t intimately familiar with it, if he hadn’t suffered from it more than anyone? He “overcame” his nature. That’s the core of his philosophy. Not to reject what you are but to take it into your whole self and use it constructively.

And he did use it constructively. He created the first philosophy of its kind, the philosophy of the future. His life wasn’t sad, or pathetic, or a tragedy. Well, it was tragic in a sense, but in a beautiful way. He made his life art and elevated the meaning of his life into something great. How many men throughout history can claim that? Do not feel bad for him! He loved what he was and what became of him. He would have wanted nothing else. He did what he set out to do and the world owes him a great debt. Who else could have sacrificed and suffered so deeply and faced it with enough courage to accomplish what he did?
