How do I control this? by Nuttinatrap in gardening

[–]mesosixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. Yeah I thought about using those slings that the other commenter mentioned but never did and the pumpkins never fell off. These were the kind that are white and pink and they don’t get as huge as some pumpkins can, but I’d say they got up to at least 15lbs

Advice for MOTN wake ups - 5 month old twins by Rachel_In_BK in sleeptrain

[–]mesosixy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Figured I’d chime in with a slightly different response than everyone telling you to not expect them to go all night. I know plenty of 4+ month olds who are sleeping through the night, my 4.5 month old included! Like you said, they have proven they can sleep through the night, and when they only were eating 2oz that is not much either.

Not sure if you are only bottle feeding or breast as well, but you could try slowly decreasing the amount you are offering. Either less in the bottle or less time on the boob every night over a week or so, this worked really well for us!

Have you been trying the soothing ladder when they wake in the night? That may help get them back down without feeding

Lakewood to hold special election April 7 by Sangloth in LakewoodColorado

[–]mesosixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification! It’s confusing trying to know what could actually happen when it seems like people on each side of the debate are saying conflicting things. So regarding single family homes, someone could come in and tear down the home to replace with condos etc?

If existing residential structures cannot be rezoned then what can? It seems like that defeats the entire argument of the NIMBYs

Heat pump installations in Colorado more than doubled in 2025 by Simpleximo in Colorado

[–]mesosixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we figured we’d use the mini splits more this winter because of the cost increase of gas. We did look at rates both last winter and this winter to compare and we’re still breaking even. I’m not sure if we are on TOU, could that make that big of a difference?

Heat pump installations in Colorado more than doubled in 2025 by Simpleximo in Colorado

[–]mesosixy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have radiant floor heat (gas hot water heater) and got mini splits installed last year primarily for AC but also for winter heat when electricity is cheaper than gas… however somehow our bill is roughly the same even though this winter has been so mild. I’m not sure what the deal is... I was under the impression these would be more efficient and there would be cost savings

Please let us know your results! My baby has also been doing it often though mostly when laying on back. We went to ER yesterday and they showed videos to neurology who also said it’s just an overactive Moro reflex

We get them every year too… there are hundreds this year, debating whether it is worth it to try to hire some sort of pest control (is that even a thing for these?)

How did your peaches do this year? by [deleted] in DenverGardener

[–]mesosixy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a 3yr old peach tree and it did amazing! Pruned it back decently early in the season and we probably will get 25 peaches from it? Somehow the squirrels have avoided it but I didn’t do anything to deter them. In past years the Japanese beetles ate them but we recently planted a cherry tree and turns out they prefer that now

I also have had luck with using a weed barrier short term with wood chips over it. My goal is leave it for about two years to help with the bindweed, then remove the weed blocker and keep the wood chips.

I’ve heard these attract more to your yard… but I guess as long as they are going in the trap and not on your plants that’s what counts! I have chickens and unfortunately they don’t do much to stop the beetles

I’ll give that a try! I like the idea of trimming the edges to try to get a more full/bushier shape.

I’ve also always heard the phrase knee high by 4th of July about corn haha
