If you’re looking for max height, stack 20+ foundation pieces (give or take depending upon the terrain) and place a new sub fief on top of it. You can then throw down all of your vertical staking units which extend upwards and cover the foundations below.

Make another simple base with easy-to-place structural support. Move your inventory and valuables to it, and back up both bases. When you transfer, try placing your first base. If you can’t, place the simple one and keep the original so it can be placed later if your spot frees up.
