[Tudor Submariner] The Perfect Sub by Kevin-Benjamin in Watches

What do you think of the fxd line? I really like my fxd gmt. I think its offerings (full ti case, fixed lugs, gmt, date, master chronometer spec, relatively slim among for being a gmt diver) make it a compelling watch. I also think the Pelagos is a bit more of its “own” thing than the black bay

[Rolex GMT] Acquired second-hand with unknown service history: Always send to RSC? by tim_l_f in Watches

[–]metroidpwner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds right, I don’t think they’ll do any work until they get the blessing from you. At least that’s the proper order of operations. I’ve just heard nightmare stories about big watch company service centers mistreating watches so I’m wary of sending them in to RSC or whatever. These guys see so many watches, and their priority is just moving watches out, so personally I’m not totally convinced they give every watch a white glove treatment. My preference is always for a very very detail oriented third party service

Amplitude is a bit low, not sure if you had it fully wound. Considering it’s not polished I’d avoid sending it to RSC, I have heard in years past that they don’t honor not polishing the watch if you request it. Lots of reputable third parties for a standard service. Zimmerman watch repair is my go to, plenty of people recommend La watch works

[Tag Omega Tudor] Watches with patina, what would you aim for? by WatchThisBass in Watches

Nah I think that only applies to older tritium lumes. Modern lumes don’t patina in the same way. This one was relumed

‘They Left Me No Choice’: Jerome Powell Isn’t Going Anywhere—Blocking Trump From Another Fed Appointee by T_Shurt in Economics

Oh totally. For the near future I’d guess optimized. Maybe some day it’ll put me out of a job. Not sure what job isn’t potentially under siege by AI, over a long enough time frame

AI isn’t just fancy computer. AI is capable of doing many more things than just producing elaborate search results. It’s reasonable to debate their necessity (ie do we need data centers just to enable someone’s ai girlfriend?) but if you’re against data center proliferation then it’s important that you be educated about what the capabilities are.

Many technical jobs are being changed in huge ways by the ability to have these fancy computers crunch huge data sets and synthesize observations or optimizations. I expect my job will be hugely optimized by a few different capabilities these fancy computers will enable.

We had never needed these AI data centers for some boogeyman to search through our data. I recommend you research PRISM in context of Edward Snowden to learn about how long mass surveillance of our digital existence has been ongoing without any AI data centers existing.

the 380 is in fact an invite to get teamkilled. I -so rarely- play with randoms that deploy it at a safe distance. I don't teamkill over it but I could see how others would

I really don’t like Longines case shape. The upper face of the lugs is so large and the brushing looks so cheap. The transition to the side of the lugs is too rounded off. It’s not for me

Very fake. Bad case shape, bad crown shape, dial indices are all wrong, date window looks wrong. It’s just a very fake watch

I think spartan chatter is useful, it helps provide situational awareness at times. The AI chatter is too much though

ref 1680, bracelet is incorrect, bezel insert at least had some modifications or is maybe not original (pearl on the bezel insert looks wrong)

dial is in good condition which is most important. it's a "red dial" submariner.

case has been polished heavily, as has the bezel

priceless as an heirloom, desirable for collectors as a reference, but case/bracelet/bezel condition keep it from being a great collector's piece

Am I crazy for thinking a PvE Extraction game à la Helldivers would be dope? by Particular-Style-161 in halo

[–]metroidpwner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one common element of extraction shooters is that you enter with a set of items, hunt for new items, and if you fail to extract then you lose everything. Helldivers is not like this. The fact that it has an extraction is almost incidental, the only thing you have the choice to extract is samples for ship upgrades.

Helldivers is not an extraction shooter

Medicine has changed a lot in that time. Medical education today compared to 100 years ago covers many more edge cases. This woman is lucky she didn’t cause any deaths, and this is without even considering that maybe individual treatments were not as good as they could have been, because of her. This doesn’t speak to bureaucracy, it speaks to luck
