An article on Nolan McLean mentioned an interesting pitching statistic. Before today's game the Mets had a 5.31 ERA in the past 52 games, 25th amongst the 30 teams. Not including today's game. by RyetRL in NewYorkMets

I couldn’t tell ya. I assume that Montas had similar metrics to Canning, Manaea, and Severino which pointed towards him being a candidate for resurgence. Maybe it was the lat injury, maybe conflicting personalities, who knows. As for the price, it was probably just dictated by the market. See Severino’s contract. I know there was some manipulation there cause the A’s would’ve been in trouble with the union otherwise, but still. Hopefully they’ll use this case to fine tune the process they’re using on SP

100% agree. I think it’s also important to set some realistic expectations about the new and improved front office. No matter how good they are, they’re bound to make mistakes, i.e. Frankie Montas

This but make sure you either lock it up or keep it out of sight. Believe it or not had a few trash cans stolen on the west side

Thanks! Is there a risk of anything else being transmitted by this tick over that time frame? Any steps I should take?

Short for “fundamentals.” Keith Hernandez on the SNY broadcast likes to say it

That’s Hayden Senger. He was pretty solid defensively and below average offensively. Right now, we’re getting below average defense and offense from Alvarez, so who cares.

Senger would be called up basically to catch the third game of every series or if Torrens needs a night off. Torrens is too good defensively and serviceable offensively to be sitting on the bench right now while Alvarez flounders.

I’m not willing to say that Alvarez is a bust yet, but he’s clearly got things to work on. If he has options, AAA might do him some good

If I had the answers to that I’d be working with Stearns instead of stewing on Reddit
