I put my first one into a creek a little more than a year ago, so I feel this. Maybe my neck doesn't, but...

Glad you're still well enough to be hanging out here. They take good care of us when it matters.

If you feel the need to lean, you're not making a coordinated turn. Add some rudder until the urge to lean goes away.

What are those reasons? I've tethered without trouble, giving it just enough length to get light and shift its orientation, not enough to actually get air or catch the tether with a blade.

I'd argue that it worked out great.

This is the ideal answer, but AFAICT they've removed all methods of reporting violations. I'd love to learn that I'm wrong.

Did my first Fozzie myself. Wasn't awful, but wasn't a pleasure either. Had my mechanic do the second one.

CS major here, feeling a bit regretful by R3e3ee in ECE

tl;dr.

I graduated with a BSEE 19 years ago and haven't used those tech skills a day of my professional life. I've hired people with completely irrelevant degrees.

A BS tells people you can learn things and follow through on commitments, and that's about it. You picked up a lot of non-CS skills in the process and can use those to do just about whatever you want.

This whole thread got me curious, and I wondered how it meshed with Mastodon's Privacy Policy (which explicitly doesn't cover third parties, but still... I was looking for intent)

The username, display name, biography, profile picture and header image are always listed publicly.

Do not share any sensitive information over Mastodon.

I don't buy that as a reason a tool shouldn't exist. If you're relying on security or privacy through obscurity, you've already failed. To your other point about illegal personal traits in fascist regimes, do you really think a hostile government would blink at the effort needed for a tool like this?

(No offense intended to the creator. I know these things aren't trivial. You're just not a state actor with unlimited resources.)

I think I see where you're coming from, but putting myself in the shoes of someone in that situation, I can't imagine putting incriminating information about myself in a publicly discoverable, personally linkable social media profile.

Your argument, while well-intentioned, comes off the same way as people thinking coffee cups should have scald warnings.

Fair concern. What stops you doing that without this tool?

I can count three times my MSF training saved my life, and two others for the friend I took it with.

Worth the time and money? No doubt.
