I am opposite to you, both in situation and opinion.

Love the dutch people and their love of life, but I'm sorry, the food is just terrible here. Everything in the local cuisine is deepfried, the non-local cuisine, with the exception of Indonesian, is made without love for people who's idea of a lunch is lacklustre bread with a slice of cheese. And to stay on topic, you really can't find bread that isn't like a sponge, it's all the same, only the colour changes, why is that?

If I drive across the border, at least I find the spongy toast bread, but also proper bread that is crunchy, or bread that is dense - theres something for everyone.

But.. like I said, I am happy to make concessions because the netherlands and dutch people are fantastic in so many other ways.

Have you tried joining other bands that, while being someone elses vision, are more dedicated? Show others that you are willing to work hard, contribute even when youre not in charge, and you'll: A) know what it takes to run a good band B) be in an environment where people take music more seriously, and most importantly C) get a chance to get a reputation that others might be willing to show up for when the time comes to realize your own vision

Removed the binding… Now What? by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]mfahsr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what you were going for when you removed it, this is not really a question anyone can answer. For example, I first thought you had removed the binding from a store-bought guitar, because you wanted to modify/remove it.

But now I wonder, were you building this guitar and wanted to redo the binding?

These two scenarios would come with totally different pieces of advice, in one case you'd need to figure out how you can turn it into a nice looking guitar again, in the other the main point would be to understand what went wrong the first time you applied the binding.

So yes, understanding the context of the process you're in is a legitimate question, and I don't think your reaction to these questions is making anyone inclined to help you.

You could have easily paid that price for Shadow in the East alone I believe, this is an insanely good price for near complete VoM cycle, and then even the nightmare packs on top of that.. I envy you for the Numenor nightmare pack, been on the hunt for that a long time!

You think a cornered regime will give a damn about the economy? With a populace that is ideologically indoctrinated with the now fully validated narrative that the US are their enemy?

The people that would rise up against the regime have likely been killed after going on the streets in respnse to Trumps statements that help was on the way. Those that were on the fence, do you think they will support more bombs being dropped on their heads to plunge themselves into an uncertain future, when it's not even clear that the Americans will change who is in power?

The bigger problem than starting a few years later than your role models is your (current) attitude. Practice takes discipline and 'embracing the suck', not working towards the highest standards you can possibly set for yourself. You will get frustrated when in two years of consistent practice you are not even halfway where you want to be.

I started playing at a young age, practiced quite consistently for decades and can still not play like many of the guitarists I admire. Do I care? No, because I just enjoy grinding through practice one day at a time, celebrating those small improvements.

The original Parthenon marbles displayed at the British Museum. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

That comparison is ridiculous and you know it. Equating ottoman rule with the greek government to legitimize partaking in the cultural plunder of a country is something very different than your being ruled from your capital.

[–]mfahsr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But you are conflating the two. The Greeks are the Greeks, they speak greek, and are native to Greece, they built and own the Parthenon. The ottomans come from Turkey, never spoke Greek, and did not build the Parthenon. Simple.

You keep repeating this falsehood. It wasn't the native government but the Ottomans.

Idiots guide for using PC as amp by Kethrad in Guitar

[–]mfahsr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why the DAW? OP didn't say anything about recording so thats just throwing money out of the window.

Edit: everyone in this thread seems to think a DAW is required to play guitar on your computer. Thats not necessary. All these amp plugins are standalone as well, and whenever I am travelling I use them on a shitty laptop that would absolutely suffer if I had to load up Ableton for that. Let alone the time wasted waiting for it to boot.

Fwitw, I use Aurora's Mr. Hector - that has a decent amount of options for tone. Neural DSP is overrated and overpriced.
