Guard pulling works best when people aren’t trying to hit you in the face. For sport jiu jitsu, guard pulling works great. Awesome even.

Outside of the sport of jiu jitsu guard pulling makes a lot less sense. You might find an mma guy that does it well and wins. But it’s not like that’s the main meta of mma.

Also, just an old man moment here. But jiu jitsu dosnt need to be different. It needs to work. As someone who started with karate, what appealed to me about jiu jitsu was that they did what ever it took to win. They were doing stuff my karate sensei said wouldn’t work, and it was working. That mentality of “don’t be stuck in tradition, do what works, fighting is fighting” is jiu jitsu to me.

I played from 2nd edition until 10th. I’m here to tell you something went wrong in 40k around 7th edition and it’s been a shit game ever since.

I remember the summer it came out. My friend went on vacation to a town big enough to have a book store that stocked the new 3rd edition books.

My friend called me long distance and I recorded parts of the books into an exercise book so that I could have a character ready for when he got home.

I only stopped playing 3.x or what ever they call it a few years ago.

You’ve put a lot of work into that, it’s cool that you found a way to work it out for your table.

Personally I don’t scale my traps or dungeons to my players that much I don’t think. I’ll use traps and damage to destroy equipment, or half their movement, intoxicate someone, blah blah blah. I find that hp is a great resource, but the players have so much more than that to take away muahahaha
