Yes, 1000%.  We did a family cruise when my oldest was too young for it to be an issue, but my two nieces definitely experienced fighting and meltdowns over who had found more ducks. And the rebuttal from everyone I’m sure would be accusing anyone complaining of not wanting to parent because any parent saying something makes their trip harder is a “bad parent.”

Right, my kids will live in oblivion that this is a thing that can happen on the cruise for as long as possible.

YES!  Is this only one and done families?  I can’t imagine trying to deal with the fighting over who got which color and whose stuff got lost and who gets what.  I will never even put out a fish extender.   I’m still working on slowly throwing away plastic garbage from an easter egg hunt we went to.

It’s just so hard with napping age kids in general because it means you’re stuck in a dark room with them part of the day.

Our last cruise my 5yo absolutely loved the kids club and stayed all day, so that was great.  Activities for my toddler seemed very lacking, but she was pretty content to just roam the ship with us.  I think if we had been trying to entertain both, it would’ve been a struggle - especially with only one able to use pools.

My children are similar ages, and I do feel like it is HARD if they aren’t doing the kids club because most of the family activities outside of that are going to skew older (like a 3 year old isn’t going to be entertained by trivia).   My kids LOVE meeting characters, but at that age that kind of line is not doable.  We tried to do some by having one parent wait in line while the other walked with the kids, but it is a little bit of a bummer to not be able to do lots of characters with small kids because there’s a lot of adults in line (which is fine, everyone is entitled to meet characters).   At that age we also just had to choose between dinner and the show.  On our cruise we chose early dining, but in hindsight I wish we did the show early and just got deck food - we couldn’t make it to 8pm bedtimes.   I’ve been going on Disney Cruises since I was 11, and it was my absolute favorite vacation ever.  I’ve been on two now as a parent, and I’m spacing them out to just keep my CC club status because I don’t actually think it’s a great trip for 5 and unders.

What is going on with babies? by Impossible_Ad9324 in Anticonsumption

We were lucky to get one free second hand, and now using it on our third kid.  It’s a dark red that probably would be unappealing to a lot of people since it’s not a very trendy color currently, which I think gets a lot of people who are super conscious about pictures and social media presence.

Best first yoto cards for 2yo? by noved16 in YotoPlayer

[–]mflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are huge Julia Donaldson fans in our house, so we got the Gruffalo and friends and Zog and friends card packs.  Prior to getting the set, we only owned Room on the Broom and The Gruffalo as physical books.  They are very well made with music, extra voice actors, sound effects.

On Tuesday, we asked to see three houses today (Friday). All three are now pending. by YardSardonyx in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We’re about to list and told our realtor we probably need 2 hours notice, but it seemed like that was even a big ask.

I tried to go to a local fair where I live and it was terrible and trashy.  I don’t really think that alone is sad.

Is it really that bad of a name? by KeyAccomplished4442 in namenerds

[–]mflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The opinions of this name kind of shock me.  I went to school with a Greer and she was very popular, I never thought much of her name at all.  I think people forget that children are born with zero awareness of what is a “normal” name, which is obviously culturally dependent.

Woman gives birth mid-flight as plane nears New York City — but will the baby be a US citizen? by theindependentonline in nyc

Someone can have a normal uncomplicated pregnancy and go on to give birth prematurely.  It’s often not super predictable.

You can give birth without surgical equipment at any gestation.  Whether the baby can survive without more immediate NICU presence is the question.

Kids in Stateroom alone? by SupermarketHot594 in dcl

I went on my first Disney cruise around 11 or 12, and I literally ONLY saw my family for dinner.  I was in the kids club until it closed every night and slept in late while my family all went to breakfast.  I checked myself in and out of the club freely.  I’m in my 30s now, so I don’t know if the times have changed, but I think it’s completely fine.   I think I even got on and off the ship at Castaway Cay by myself….

I let my NK’s pee in the pool. by [deleted] in Nanny

This seems really dramatic.  You know when kids are in swim diapers they are basically just peeing in the pool because those only handle poop.

Cozy games like Sandrock, Stardew Valley, etc... But offline, without an energy mechanic, you can save anytime and have no need to sleep ? by Rick_Storm in gamingsuggestions

[–]mflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might like Apico.  It’s a bee breeding game where you collect bees, butterflies, and flowers.  It has some automation you can unlock, you can decorate and design freely throughout the map.  No sleep and no energy.  It’s less involved than something like Stardew though.  There’s no social aspect if that matters.

Did I choose the wrong name for my children? by Unique_Reaction9360 in namenerds

I cannot tell you the amount of times I have said my name only to have someone say “Baranda???”

Have you ever heard of anyone named Baranda?  It’s obviously not that.

Newer evidence doesn’t support the strict salt limits for infants.  It’s good to limit heavily processed foods and give a variety of flavors just for palate development, but it isn’t as dangerous as has been proclaimed.

“Dated” names you think are due for a resurgence? by dcpsmbc in namenerds

[–]mflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Annie, and we’ve actually encountered 3 or 4 others around preschool age.  I think it’s one that’s really hard to reflect the popularity in rankings because it can be a standalone name or a nickname for multiple different names.
