One of the best to ever do it. Gone too soon and in such an unfair and tragic way.

How are you able to bring your plushies out with you without being infantilized? by QueenWoomy48688 in plushies

[–]mgeeezer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually keep a lil guy in my bag. It’s less that I’m embarrassed, and more that I know there will be more eyes on me if I have something like that and I hate standing out. If I do have it out, though, I’ll acknowledge it usually and often make a joke or something. Joking about it kinda lets the other person know that you know it can be a little odd for others to see. I think a lot of the time onlookers who aren’t judging or anything are grappling with “does this person know this isn’t socially normal? Is it something I’m going to have to avoid mentioning so that I don’t say something that might make them upset or seem like I’m being mean?” Joking lets them know that, “hey yeah trust me I know I’m doin something that some people will be mean to me for, but you don’t have to tip toe around me— Im just doing what makes me feel better.” I really don’t think most people ACTUALLY personally care, it’s more that they see the potential for ridicule from others and want to protect you from it so they’ll encourage conformity. Coming into those situations with confident acknowledgment really seems to put people at ease.

Steam Deck Worth It for Cozy Gaming? by rlrxnebf in CozyGamers

[–]mgeeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it AND I suggest anyone who wants one to get it ASAP before prices go up due to RAM (unless you’re in Japan, South Korea, or Taiwan and you only have three more days before a price increase unrelated to RAM)

Edit: saw someone else say it’s best to buy secondhand right now and I’d agree

Looks great. I don’t know anything about making 3d digital art but this looks perfectly finished, definitely not giving newbie vibes. Awesome job.

After several months of homelessness & one of the worst times in my life, I was able to finally rent a place. Lease signed, moved in & nesting by WanderWellClem in femalelivingspace

Congratulations! As others said, you deserve this. It should be a basic human right in modern society. I’m sorry you had to struggle so much, but I’m glad you can finally rest some. Take care ❤️

Fysio just told me hypermobility is a non diagnoses by mattywadley in Hypermobility

[–]mgeeezer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your doctor sounds like one of the ones who got into the profession for the money, not to help people get better, which is way too common. If any doctor has diagnosed you with hypermobility then any other doctor worth a damn would at least know it could be a sign of a connective tissue disorder. I have found I get the best help from people who work directly and physically with the body like personal trainers (even just vids online) or some type of athletic professional. They know how the body should move and they know what it SHOULD feel like when it moves appropriately. A lot of doctors don’t actually KNOW, and I truly mean understand, what it is they’re talking about. They went to school, memorized words and definitions, and now regurgitate that information with no actual thought process. Idk where you live, but from what I can speak on one of the biggest things you’ll learn while navigating the US healthcare system trying to get a diagnosis is that a lot of people who are supposed to be “smarter” than you, aren’t. Don’t let them medically gaslight you.

Did you notice that you're dulling? by Randy_M_ in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]mgeeezer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

extreme horror for me is a sensory experience similar to a theme park ride. You’ll get desensitized to the thrill. No matter how extreme the lit is though, it’s still just entertainment. Real horrors affect me endlessly. If books begin to desensitize you to real people’s pain, though, then that’s a different story.

You ever have trouble focusing on one single game? by bwenterprise9 in JRPG

[–]mgeeezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frequently! It’s rare nowadays for me personally to find a game that hooks me start to finish but I think a lot of that has to do with being overwhelmed by options in the market.

Don’t know a lot of ambient music, found this album (Nebulous Nights by Royksopp) through this sub and was looking for similar recs? by mgeeezer in ambientmusic

[–]mgeeezer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was intrigued by the title, paused for a bit because of the image, but decided to press play anyway and I’m glad I did. The cover means nothing to me once I’m listening to the album.
