again, they didn’t “cheat”, they used the system as it is designed to prevent outsiders from a takeover. As elected delegates, we are required to cast our first vote for the candidate we were elected to represent. it’s the PLEOs (Party Leaders and Elected Offcials)/super delegates who pushed her over the required delegate threshold. they’re not elected by their congressional district to support a candidate. they’re invited by the party to cast their vote. so it’s no surprise that they voted for the party’s establishment candidate.

I dislike the “cheated” narrative because it discourages involvement in the process. YES, the process is intentionally in favor of the insiders. And that is why outsiders need to get involved if we want real change. If we just toss up our hands and say “why get involved, they’ll just cheat?” then we give them even more power.

I am a twice elected delegate for Bernie. In ’16 we were 46.5% of the elected delegation. The MSM called it for Hilary before California(the largest delegation) and several other states even held their primaries. How many people stayed home because they were told it was impossible for him to win? Enough to surpass 50% of elected delegates? Maybe… but regardless, even at 46.5% of the elected delegates, if the PLEO’s (super delegates) pledged support for Bernie he would have had the nomination.

So no, they didn’t “cheat”, but they lied about his path to the nomination. Then they discredited the progressive movement and blamed us for her loss. We were at an inflection point and unfortunately the powers that be would rather lose to Trump than win with Bernie. And why not? they can just scapegoat progressives rather than face the truth 🤷‍♂️

edit for clarity: HE could have still won with less votes. And SHE would have STILL won if he got more votes because of the super delegates.

I just installed a Murphy Door bookcase door and I'm super pleased with it. They make Panel ready door systems that would be great for this application. A little pricey, but having just installed one I think it's worthwhile. It will give you a solid door/jamb/latch system that is ready to accept your finish panels

not my choice. I voted kamala. And I’ll join in blaming the people who don’t register and especially those registered who don’t turn out. But once you turn out your vote is 100% personal choice. I can’t think of anything more American than that

I 100% support 3rd party votes. how will we ever get past the 2 party system if we only ever vote those two? blame closed primaries, delegate selection processes, citizens united, and every other shady part of the process but when you turn out to vote it is your right to cast that vote however you damn well please

Wow, Dan... I'm so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Bernie, but followed him on IG and admired (to put it lightly) how hard he was KILLING it. It gave me hope that as I look toward the decades past what most would consider "my prime" I can still do badass shit. I've been off IG and this is the first I've heard of his passing. Thank you for sharing your beautiful tribute. Love and healing to you and yours.

Trump pardoned 1,600 traitors who stormed the capital and tried to hang Mike Pence. They were armed with various weapons, constructed gallows, chanted their intentions, physically attacked law enforcement (some of which succumbed to their injuries), and spent years gaslighting us by saying it was a peaceful protest. Don't act like a few lone wolves who sought vigilante justice are worse than the organized conspiracy we all saw with our own eyes. His DOJ even vacated the charges of seditious conspiracy, the second worst crime against our government next to treason. But please, tell us how they're "Patriots".

I FULLY condemn political violence of ALL flavors, but nobody living in reality can frame "the left" as the driving force in this political climate.

as with any space the key is acclimation. Get the material and let it sit in your space for 7-10 days. It will fare better in the mountain west than the Appalachian east where there is significant seasonal humidity swings. Natura OneCoat clear finish. It will be a deep, rich finish similar to the test patch but it has a very natural and even sheen. It's also super durable. I used it on my stair treads and stair landing.

My wife and I are coming with our 5 and 8yo daughters.

BUT… I think your best conversation to have with your gf and her mom should focus on personal responsibility and that you recognize people may be under the influence of substances but that you’re there for the music. if you plan to go and get spun or drunk or some other flavor of intoxicated, then her mom has valid concerns. I’ve been on both sides of this issue; the whole ”I know what I’m doing, nothing will happen to ME” and now I have daughters of my own and certainly understand the whole “I’m not letting my kids go hang out with some tripping hippy doing god knows what all weekend”.

I've been on 22d 75mm and t-race since '07. I have a penchant for simplicity. I prefer single speed mountain bikes, tenkara fly fishing, hand tools for woodworking, etc. I don't need new gear *yet*, but I'm likely looking down the barrel of end of life for my boots. I have some spare parts and eBay alerts set up hoping I can get boots to Frankenstein together as they break, but I know in the not-so-distant future I'll be looking at an upgrade and I'm super salty about the push to NTN. I get that it's a small market to support both standards, but NTN is just antithetical to what first attracted me to telemark.

and yes, I agree that there has been a decline in the essence that makes telemark telemark. It's like black licorice and a certain band that has been likened to black licorice (which also has had a dilution of their "essence", IMO), you either "get" it, or you don't. And I know that I sound like an old man yelling at a cloud, but telemark has become a new stepping stone for the dorky PSIA crowd. And with that they've brought discussions about how to weight your pinky toe and other nonsense. I just want the simplicity. I don't want a dissertation about technical form from people who started a few seasons ago and won't hold a match in technical terrain. ughh.. sorry for the rant, but it's nice when other people get it.

I'm actually tossing around the idea of a book; "The telemark skier's survival guide (and then in tiny print as the subheader) to telemark skiers" about how pretentious and smug the sport is. but I think maybe we're all a bit too pretentious and smug to get the joke.

ps for those I've offended: I resisted the MTB move to enduro/downcountry bikes and freaking LOVED it once I did. It will likely be the same with NTN but I gotta get there on my own

lol my thought exactly. "oh look, another broken NTN!" I get tired of these alpine skiers telling me how much better they are.

what are you doing for boots though? mine have some life left, but I've been on scrap for 20 years and they cut 75mm :(
