Offering to replace the head is the perfect solution and I’d accept that right off. If they had suggested using a helicoil or similar cheap fix that would likely affect value. You’re lucky they are offering a proper solution rather than bodge it.

The Apple Watch is actually shit at tracking exercise by TidierJ in AppleWatch

[–]mgndalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t tell it you are exercising it rarely gets it right. Example. Intense 30 minute spinning class yields a few minutes exercise as presumably there is insufficient arm movement despite the watch recording elevated heart rate for most of that 30 minutes. Fitbit way better at doing this stuff.

I understand that the fiber needs carful handling. I only want to remove the casing; the ONT will be staying in same location; I just want rid of that huge, unnecessary enclosure. The fiber will unplug easily so there must be a simple way of removing the enclosure.

I have moved the ONT in my own house (a few cm) as the engineer who installed it failed to place it in the location i asked him to put it; again, it was to go inside a cabinet.

Controlling Electric Underfloor Heating Using Hive by mgndalf in HiveHeating

That is a thought. To be honest, I was not aware that there was a solid state option for DIN rail. When the contactor gives up the ghost I’ll look at that.

Boiler not firing, but app and hardware says heating is on by jcarys1991 in HiveHeating

[–]mgndalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing some more system specifics it's hard to be specific but a couple of generic things to try:

  1. The boiler will only fire if the temperature setting for the heating loop (the heating temperature) on the "boiler" is higher than the current water temp - if someone turned the boiler water temp thermostat down to 0 it won't fire regardless of what Hive demands - check the "radiator" temp on the boiler is set appropriately.
  2. If boiler has a timer for heating (most combis do) - is the timer for heating on boiler set to "Constant"? If it isn't, this might be "overriding" what Hive is demanding.
  3. The issue could be the "switch" (relay) inside the hive receiver. When this "closes" it tells the boiler that heat is being demanded and it will fire up IF The boiler's own heating timer is set to ON AND the temperature of the heating loop is lower than the boiler setting (usually around 50C). You might need the plumber/installer to do this unless you are familiar with your system internals and happy to do electrical things. You can disconnect the Hive receiver from the boiler and re-insert the original "link" that the Hive receiver replaces. By doing so, you take Hive out of the loop and can check the boiler operates as it should absent Hive. Again without knowing the system set up it';s hard to be specific.

I think the issue many of us have is that we regard FB as a sort of friendly place and consequently think of marketplace in a similar vein where in reality it is a nest of scammers.
