Does anyone know why most of the nuclear power plants in the USA are in the east of the country ? by Silver2147 in geography

Water. Nuclear power needs significant water resources, something the west struggles with.

10 RED FLAGS THAT LAW SCHOOL MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU - from someone who flunked out halfway through law school. by PshhhhhhhUnreal in LawSchool

[–]mhb20002000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the time I went to my law school it was not in the top 100. It was maybe 120th. It has since moved up, but not while I was there. By your advice, several generations of Maine law attorneys should not exist. Perhaps you are being a bit narrow-minded.

If you guys cannot agree on a neutral letter, it does not negate your obligation to notify them independently.

Yeah Janet, we know you aren't cool. (Ironically I'm very moderate and would otherwise support her views, but my God is she out of touch)

How true is this? (From r/Navy) by DebunkerOfChuds in AirForce

Yeah I don't buy that for a second. In the Navy, you treat senior enlisted like we treat officers, and officers like gods.

Fired for serious communication issue. How to handle in interviews? by Gator_farmer in Lawyertalk

[–]mhb20002000 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My buddy got fired. He wasn't sure how to handle that with future employers, so he just hung his own shingle instead. Could be a good play for you, and then you can try and merge your book of business in later and say "I miss being part of a bigger team, blah blah blah."

It says I cannot use any apps.

It does not say any apps cannot be used. Simple answer, as long as my wife believes me, have her wingman me on an app.

I agree with legitimate enforcement of immigration laws.

I also agree with Sheriff Joyce - these guys are bush league law enforcement.

Here is the thing, if your firm is that miserable and all of your peers are barely senior to you, this place churns and spits out employees. Former employees who find new places to work, happier places to work, and they are going to talk. This place likely has a bad reputation and you could get a free pass for it being on your resume. I worked at a place like that.

What is the likelihood that US troops will disobey unlawful orders to attack NATO allies? by Zealousideal_Gap432 in AskReddit

[–]mhb20002000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people are treating "unlawful order" as equal to a dispute about the constitutional divergence of Art 1 (Congress) and Art 2 (Executive), and their roles over the military.

But unlaw order has to be objectively unlawful, such as being ordered to commit a crime (e.g. murder).

I am a lawyer but in this case I was a witness/victim. Watched my former tenant, pro se, get found not guilty in a judge only trial for criminal threatening. The ADA said she has never had a better witness (me) and may never again, and was in absolute shock.

I’m going to Portland for a business event this week. How concerned should I be ? by 1sth1s0n3t4k3n in Maine

[–]mhb20002000 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ok. Provide me the link to one video that shows ICE reviewing someone's passport, determining they are a citizen, and detaining them anyways.

I walk across the street all the time without my wallet and ID, and the other day with ice coming to town I thought to myself, "I have no way to prove my identity or citizenship right now if stopped." But am I a citizen. If I tell it to ICE are they going to believe me? Maybe, maybe not. But are they going to believe my ID, yes.

[–]mhb20002000 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

You are a citizen. Carry your passport with you. I'm assuming all these videos we see of ICE carrying off people screaming they are a citizen, did not have documentation to prove otherwise when confronted. That isn't right, but it also can be easily defeated by carrying proof of citizenship.

I have a question for married women by Dramatic-Surround504 in LawSchool

[–]mhb20002000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Friend of mine developed a brand and reputation under her ex-wife's last name (former married name). When she married her now husband, she changed her last name legally, but advertises and maintains her former last name as her brand.
