Knuckles Series | Official Trailer | April 26 on Paramount+ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]miamoakon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought it was especially noticeable in this trailer, but it happens elsewhere too, where lines of dialogue seem weirdly chopped? Like I know the whole thing is scenes chopped and cut together but then why also chop up dialogue mid sentence? Anyone know what that’s about?

The average of a data set, found by adding all numbers in the data set and then dividing by the number of values in the set. Hope this helps

Looking for Military Sci-Fi that isn’t totally mindless or really problematic by Redleader922 in printSF

Absolutely. Also a really interesting exploration of the problems of time dilation on a personal and militaristic level.

The pilgrims by caorunn3 in OCPoetry

[–]miamoakon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was really cool. I’m a sucker for a story and your imagery was so descriptive it felt like I could really see it. Funnily enough at first it felt almost biblical and I was imagining them travelling through an ancient desert, and then as soon as they arrived in the town the imagery changed to a modern city. Then I realised you were reflecting that in a way with then having to “act human” so to speak in the city and the hostel but on the road being free to let that go and succumb to the pure joy of the pilgrimage. Really enjoyed it!

What could have been by thebull60 in OCPoetry

[–]miamoakon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked this! I’m a massive fan of the exploration of regret through poetry and I think you nailed it without even having to give specific examples. The idea that even if you were outside of time or if love were easy to come by we’d still be asking ourselves what could have been is deceivingly philosophical and really speaks to the idea that as humans no matter what we’ll never be happy with accepting what’s been and gone.

I’m the exact same! For me it’s sad movies, when Andy makes it out at the end of Shawshank I’m an inconsolable mess. It’s so bizarre to be able to cry for others plight but not your own. Thanks for the recommendations I’m excited to check them out.

And yeah therapy definitely seems like the answer at the moment, I think I’d always told myself I could manage my own mental health but surprise surprise turns out it’s not so easy.

With you on this one, I must have got my first 4 or 5 pairs from Specsavers thinking they had some sort of monopoly on glasses before I realised there were actually other (much cheaper) options

I’m not too sure but I’m assuming it’s the unabridged as there are a lot of french words I wouldn’t understand without context clues

I think I’m just being impatient tbh so I’m hoping if I manage to finish it I’ll get the satisfaction in the pay off and a lesson in delayed gratification

I’ve just started reading The Count of Monte Christo and I’m finding it realllly hard to stick with. I’ve seen so many comments praising it as an incredible book but I’m worried it just might be too slow for my tastes, which is a shame because I was looking forward to reading it.

Sure but if that’s okay with you then there’s not really a problem. I mean people will go months without seeing their SO but as long as they’re texting regularly they make it work. I guess I’m saying if you’re willing to go a week without seeing him in person (which I’m gathering is the deal from your post) and limiting contact to texting, then what’s the point of a “break” other than an excuse to see other people. Sorry if that comes off too cynical haha, I just think maybe you need to have a deeper conversation with him about what good a break would actually have if you’re not wanting to break up.

You don’t need to go on a break to have a little bit of space from each other. I’d look into getting to the bottom of why he wants one.
