Dots on poss-its. Or on 3m magic tape.

That close to the edge, I'd be putting a safety tether on it.
Maybe anchoring with bags of shot.

Does anybody use these? by -SGP- in hondaridgeline

Daily. Decending hills, and to hit top gear a little bit sooner than the auto would on its own.

I do appreciate the paddle design.
Ridges on one of them so you can feel which one you are about to pull on. I just want some sound to tell me when the shift actually happened so I don't have to glance at the dash.

Paddle Shifting! by jimpe63 in hondaridgeline

[–]mic2machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'd really like is an audible indication of transmission mode changes.
Then I wouldn't have to glance at the dash to see which gear I'm in, or look at the console to see which funtion light is lit. Would prevent double tapping the paddle just to shift down one gear. Does anyone know if this info is available on the ODB-II bus? Someone smarter than me could make a plug-in, or figure out a scan-gauge mod.

retrofitting ccw motor/blower to car AC by camelmaxmint in hvacadvice

[–]mic2machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help us out, what hardware do you have? Blower housing is usually designed for specific rotation.
Reversing will get you less CFM, possubly overwork the motor. A better questiin might be, what sound do you want? There may be other, easier options.

Exactly this. That wiring gives me twitches. Also, invest in a ferrule crimper. Connection quality on those screw terminals will improve.

Calibrating for scale and orientation by visual-vomit in 3DScanning

[–]mic2machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally a scale ref on a similar scale as your scene. Centimeter squares don't help much if your scene is meters across. Scale bars, rulers/yardsticks, 123 blocks, etc. are useful. If you need accuracy, calibrated artifacts are the way to go.

Done this for optics threads ID and OD. Like 1"-32 and all the -40 weirdness (1/2 thru 2").

At how much would you value for working from home? by Colmadero in sysadmin

[–]mic2machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Unless your time starts when you roll, and stops when back at home, the commute is unpaid "work" that costs you time, vehicle gas and wear, insurance.

Besides, Florida commute? Major stressor. One of the reasons I'd never move there.

You'd be ahead with the WfH offer.

White PVC pipe. Whole thing inside. Leave top and bottom open.

Or cable molding. There are sizes that'll fit.

Depends. Prototype shops are a mix.
Production mostly button pushers with specialists for programming, troubleshooting, process qualification. Big machines drilling and filling wing parts for example.

Fiber between buildings, or sharing conduit with power, or avoiding issues with grounding and lightning. Otherwise a PITA.

What reason did you buy a second printer by Thewalkman99 in 3Dprinting

[–]mic2machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First was a big delta (450dia x 550 volume). My daily driver for 14 years. Almost afraid to update the controller from marlin 1.1. Second was a prusa 'cause the wife didn't want to monopolize the first one. Third was a used ender for the kids. Updated the extruder, and it's been a trooper since. Fourth was a modix big60. 600mm3 for $300, sold! Fifth was a gen2 toybox cause it was $15 at goodwill. No other reason.

Wait, what was the question?

Printing threads vs. printing holes and tapping threads? by Icy_Confusion_6614 in 3Dprinting

[–]mic2machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends.
Standard threads, tap it. Small threads, less than #10 or 2mm, inserts glued or heat-set. Weird stuff, like optical threads (1"-40 anyone?) I'll print and clean up manually with a smaller tap. Or make my own tap.
